I have an award coming up - Two pax DUB-OSL-DUB. Booked through BAEC as Avios awards. EI metal. I can see the redemption on the Aer Lingus app.

Now it looks like I have to go to China, so I'd like to cancel my flight (and get back the Avios) but keep the second person (my 14 year old son) on the booking. I cannot figure out how to do this. Can't seem to access the booking on BAEC. On the EI site it says "If you need to make any itinerary changes, please contact the original sales agent", which I guess is either BAEC or Avios.com - I'm not worried about the boy travelling alone as his mum is booked on the same flights on a separate booking.

All helpful suggestions appreciated, including phone numbers
Just had a look at the carry on luggage section on their website - is it true thatt business class has the same 10kg carryon limit + personal item as economy?

Also how strict are they with dimensions - my usual rollaboard measures 57cm in height instead of 55cm, other dimensions well within. Will they make me check it in?

Will my laptop rucksack pass for a personal item? I’m sure there’s plenty of space to store luggage in business, just curious whether there’s any leeway for business pax.

Thanks!

Tomorrow I will be flying from IND to DUB, with my father using my companion pass earned in 2025. This is my first time using a companion pass, and I'm just hoping to get an idea of anything we need to be aware of before heading to the airport.

My ticket was booked 9/11/25, all information for the companion pass was emailed as requested, and his ticket confirmation email come on 9/16/2025. I can fully see all of my ticket information when I log on to my AerLingus account. I can see his ticket but it gives me an error when I click on it, which I've read to be normal for award/companion tickets.

My main concern - I was able to pick my seats when booking, but was told he will not be able to do that until we check in at the airport. Is there a chance that there will not be a seat for him? Anything else that I might need to know or prepare for before tomorrow?

Aer Lingus made an operating loss of €103m for the first quarter of the year, an increase from the operating loss of €55m the same time last year.

The airline said the €48m increase mainly reflected additional fuel costs and lower passenger revenues linked to competition on North Atlantic routes.

I believe the answer would be yes here but i have a confirmed booking on an EI flight to DUB booked via GGL line on a BA codeshare. I wasn't able to check in all weekend despite trying several times.

Get to the airport tonight, check in desk says ticket not under airport control, they press a few keys and it gives me a boarding pass out that is standby. Said if i don't get on this flight there is space on the flight 50 mins later which whilst not ideal (I was looking forward to a pint of Guiness) will get me there tonight.

If they don't get me on the original flight which i have a confirmed booking for from BA, I assume this would be IDB and I should claim it from EI rather than BA as the operating carrier? What would the compensation be?

In December I posted about my friends who booked directly through Aer Lingus, GLA-DUB-JFK, each of two pax was on their own PNR. (You can read the whole saga here, but flights were 22 Dec, EI 3523 Operated by Emerald Airlines and EI 0107). Because the first flight was delayed, they would not make their connection in DUB and have to spend the night in the airport. Aer Lingus eventually rebooked them after more than a dozen international calls and multiple refusals, and they eventually got to JFK 15 hours after their original itinerary.

They filed for compensation for their airport hotel at Heathrow, where they were forced to overnight, for £229. This was the cheapest hotel available at the airport, as they arrived at 10pm, and had an early morning flight out.

Aer Lingus originally said

Quote:

Thanks for submitting your expenses claim. We’re happy to reimburse you for the meals, transport and accommodation you needed due to your flight disruption.

After they submitted the receipt, Aer Lingus has come back with this with no explanation

Quote:

Hotel stay in LHR (22 DEC night)
Amount claimed: GBP 229.00
Company allowable limit: GBP 163.00
Amount payable: GBP 163.00

And then

Quote:

In line with European Regulation 261/2004, you’re eligible for a refund of GBP 163.00 to cover your expenses due to a flight disruption.
Cheque will be send to the address provided by you.
Please keep in mind that it could take up to 15 working days to reach your address.
For compensation under EU 261 on EI3523 , a new claim needs to be opened by you. Once one of our Aer Lingus agents opens the claim, it will be transferred to Emerald, as they operated the delayed flight. We are not permitted to issue payments or make decisions on Emerald‑operated flights. Our role is only to transfer the cases to them, and then Emerald will contact you directly with their decision.
We understand that any disruption is far from ideal, so we hope to welcome you on board again soon for a smoother journey.

From what I can tell, Aer Lingus has admitted liability. I don't know a lot about this so I have a few questions:

Are they allowed to limit the hotel costs as they have done?

Would my friends be eligible for additional compensation under EU261 or should they use UK261?

Do they need to open the 261 claim with Emerald Airlines, even though the itinerary was booked with Aer Lingus? It seems like EI is trying to get them to submit a claim just for the delayed first leg, rather than the entire trip.

Could each of the two pax on separate PNRs submit the same hotel in order to cover the whole amount?

Any suggestions or assistance would be very much appreciated.

Hi - booked an Economy Saver fare from Dublin - Berlin in a few weeks but a little confused on the baggage entitlements with BAC status.

I'm BA Gold and will be travelling with one other on the same booking. Currently haven't selected anything other than the basic fare - so MMB says that the carry on needs to be checked in. Is this the case? From what I can see, I and everyone on the booking should get priority boarding but does that mean you're also then exempt from being required to pay to take the carry on onboard?

Also seems not eligible for lounge access unless it's DUB->LHR or transatlantic - but guess thats fine.

Just want to know whether I need to pay for the hand baggage before I get to the airport and it's €40!

Yesterday, I flew with BA on BA metal and booked on the BA website and I had my AerClub FFN attached which shows the last three digits with the word Concierge.

On my connecting flight from LHR to MAN last night, one of the cabin crew approached me to check on me (because I'm Deaf) while she was very attentive to me it was more in a "are you ok and everything will be fine kind of way" which was lovely but being a frequent flyer, something niggled me. While airborne, I typed a question to her on my 'phone. Asking what can she see about me on the pax manifest and does it show that I am an EI frequent flyer? She went and retrieved her portable device and returned to me with it. She showed me my full name, seat number, that I'm Deaf and a VLML meal. That's it. She was not aware that I'm Concierge. She quickly scrolled through the manifest and Golds, Silver, Bronzes and lots of Blue's. She was really surprised that it isn't showing anything. I showed her my digital boarding pass which has me stated as FFP3 and my AerClub number which perplexed her even more! She suggested that I contact the Concierge line but I don't think they can do anything?
To muddy the waters even more, while in LHR, I went to the standby desk to see if they could move me to the earlier flight upto MAN but there was no availability in Club. The clerk on the standby desk printed off a paper boarding pass for me and this does not show my FFP3 status yet my digital one does do! Excluding my flights yesterday, I am waiting on 400 Tier Credits from BA to credit my AerClub this month alone.
Finally, at Galleries South, the lovely lady (not a dragon) let me take a photograph of the EI access for FFP2 and FFP3. Apparently, we can bring one guest into Galleries at LHR as that is what she said.:tu:

Hi I got an email canceling a Seattle to Dublin flight on Saturday June 13 -- checked on my booking on their website and the flight is still scheduled spoke to customer service and they said the flight is not cancelled but they are not taking any more bookings - what is their "game" here? Why send an email saying that my flight is cancelled but in actual fact it's still scheduled...

They have offered a refund or a swap to day before/day after
Under Air Passengers Rights Regulation 2004[1][2] (Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 I'm entitled to re-routing or a refund
Can someone tell me if this rerouting would be able to be done to the same flight on aer Lingus on the Friday June 12 and should it be done at no extra cost to me - at the moment the price difference is $160
