I was on BTS a few days ago and saw an ad for the TAGThai QR code payment for foreigners. Apparently, upon further research, you have to pay foreign cash to KBank in order to fill a prepaid card that can be linked to a QR code payment system on the TAGThai app - I don’t believe you can actually load it with THB cash you have stored. It also sounds like it only works for business QR recipients and not “personal QR” as some smaller vendors might have. I haven’t had an issue with just using cash or credit card - though, admittedly carrying cash can be a bit cumbersome once you have finished out your banknote collection ;-)

In particular, the supposed limitation of only being able to fund this with foreign cash seems to be a major limitation. What if you don’t bring a bunch of foreign cash with you and instead plan on just using ATMs to obtain local currency as one would probably be ought to do?
