I want to burn off my Asiana miles on Star Alliance flights and was wondering fees I'd likely encounter since the price for star alliance awards are hidden till you call in.

Specifically, I want to fly UA from the US to Japan. This is NOT a normal UA route because NH charges a fuel surcharge on it even though normally, NH does not include fuel surcharges on award flights on UA metal.
Will the filed surcharge will get passed through if I book with Asiana miles? SQ, AC, Avianca and others do not seem to pass on the fuel surcharge.

Currently I have a business (U) ticket which is mileage earning on Asiana at business rates. (U) is a KE Economy ticket so curious how it maps post merger for partner programs. Ie in Flying Blue U earns as J for Asiana but would be Y on current KE fare class of (U).
