I think it’s also important to give some credit to the two other Bens involved here (not me!)
— Ben Smith and Ben Lipsey.

Air France-KLM CEO Ben Smith is one-of-a-kind, as a leader, a human, and an aviation geek. I first met him over a decade ago, and had a chance to fly with him last spring as well. I think his single biggest skill, other than just having a really good grasp on the industry, is being able to surround himself with great people.
He’s been unafraid to make bold hires, including Air FranceCEO Anne Rigail and KLM CEO Marjan Rintel. Not only have they done an amazing job, but it’s also impressive given how few female executives are in the airline industry at all, much less at the CEO level.

*ahum* cough* Marjan Rintel......
KLM's Snowmaggadon & Snowpocalyse, how fast OMAAT forgets .....

Anyway, i expect at least from now we'll see a more future indepth coverage between points.me, creditcards, FB, AF/KL news and OMAAT.

I assume that I can get free seat selection with Gold. How about others I booked tickets for? What are the chance of upgrade, even to premium economy? Not concerned about lounge access since I have AMEX Platinum Card. Can I cancel a award ticket without any payment penalty if Gold? Any other helpful info on Flying Blue Gold Status would be helpful. I feel that the Flying Blue website is very vague.

Over the coming months, as Scandinavian Airlines becomes more closely integrated into the Air France-KLM Group, there are rumors that the group may consider changing its name. It would be interesting to see what direction they take and what a new name might be. Any ideas?

Just wondering if there are any specific measures I might wanna take to make sure these credit properly, as it should be a decent chunk of XP. Beyond ensuring the proper FF# is on my boarding pass at check-in.

I haven’t looked up my booking on MU’s website to manage it (I don’t think I’d be able to anyway, as Chinese airline sites seem to only work for tickets booked directly with them). I’ve heard multiple anecdotes now of FF info changing simply by looking up the booking on the airline’s website.

I’ve also heard nightmare stories with some of these Chinese airlines automatically creating a new account, if there is none associated with your info, and dumping mileage there, stranding the earnings. Don’t know if it’s true.

I had some miles that would have expired under the old rules, but I booked an award ticket before expiration. Under the new policy, those miles do not expire now.

If I cancel the ticket now, will the redeposited miles come back normally under the new expiration rule, or will Flying Blue still treat them as expired based on the original expiration metadata?

Looking for any recent DPs. Thanks!

Not sure what's going on; I tried four different browsers across two separate computers, and it was basically impossible for me to log on and try to find award travel.
Maybe this has to do with some DNS settings or some router extension, but the network is pretty standard, and at least one of those browsers was entirely "virgin" (no extensions/addons).

I had the same problem with Lufthansa - the website was basically unusable to log in and find flights. Delta's website showed the connections fine.
I tried finding a way to contact Flying Blue/Air France/KLM on their website, but, guess what, that also didn't work lol

They really need to fix their overcomplicated tracking-laced cross-site-script dependent websites, because it's interfering with basic necessary functionality for real tasks.

I also want to preface any replies "I don't know it works for me" - that's not a helpful or useful thing to post.

SKYTEAM policy change? no more lounge access TO/FROM intl, only TO

Hello, a few weeks ago I was in Mexico City and I spoke with a Salon Premier agent. They told me that, as stated on their website, there is no more lounge access (for STE+) when coming from an international flight. Access is only allowed when flying to an international destination.

Being a SkyTeam member since 2013, I was very surprised, and they were very firm about it. I was quite sure Aeroméxico was wrong.

BUT as noted by @firstboss something changed on the SkyTeam website and now it looks a bit ambiguous.

In fact, it seems the rules changed and there is no more wording like “connecting to/from same-day international flight”.

Here is the SkyTeam page:
https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/

There is no more clear “TO/FROM”.

English is not my first language, so I also asked on the SkyMiles forum and even ChatGPT, and it seems it could actually be interpreted the way Aeromexico is applying it now:

No more FROM, only TO.

Has anyone experienced being denied lounge access for this reason?

This is the full Aeromexico rule on their website. It only mentions access when going international:
https://www.aeromexico.com/en-us/fly...irport-lounges

Elite Plus Members of the SkyTeam® Alliance
Requirements:
a) Customers must present their valid SkyTeam® Elite Plus card at the Salón Premier front desk.
b) Customers must present a valid government-issued ID.
c) Customers must present their boarding pass for an outbound international flight, traveling on the same day access to the Salón Premier is requested.
d) The details on the SkyTeam® Elite Plus membership card, the government-issued ID, and the boarding pass must match.

Just happeneded to be going through my flights for a trip next month, and noticed that the 2 of the 3 AF and KL flights (two separate tickets: MAD-CDG-SIN and SIN-DPS) have schedule time changes, one being pushed back of 2 hours. I did not get any email or text notification of this, and I checked my email junk folder also. The schedule differences don't break my trip (although losing 10 mins in DPS transit adds a bit more of a rush to visit the GA lounge for a shower before the overnight GA DPS-MEL, both on the same ticket).

Have AF / KL stopped making passengers aware of schedule changes (had them emailed to me in the past)? So it's now down to us to constantly check the app to see if changes have happended.

LATAM was able to notifiy me by email for a schedule change for AKL-SCL on the same trip - so these things are still possible to do.

The rebooking search shows the cost and the information you see during a regular booking (ticket conditions, FB status benefits, etc), but not earned XP (and miles). So, it's not entirely clear what the expected XP and miles are.

Hello,

Over the past 3 months, with quite a bit of travel, I’ve run into the usual issues—delayed baggage, flight delays, even being charged for checked bags despite status.

I submitted multiple claims via the Air France website, but nothing has progressed. It’s now been over 2 months, and each time I log in, the claim status simply refreshes to “received” with the previous day’s date.

Phone agents haven’t been able to help, and WhatsApp has led nowhere either.

At this point, I feel like I’m effectively providing Air France with an interest-free loan…

Has anyone found an effective way to get these claims moving? Or is it simply better to go straight to a third-party service?

Thanks in advance.

A long story short, I flew from MXP - PVG - AKL return with MU (not my first choice but someone with an "Orange" complexion messed up my QT via DOH travel plans) in J, and for some bizarre reason MU changed the order of my names in MXP under my booking.

So, now neither the Booking Code nor Ticket Number is accepted when I try to retro claim the flown segments I get "Claim missing Miles - Your request was unsuccessful. Please try again later" which btw, is not a helpfull error message :td:

Is there a way I can mail AF/KL scans of my BP's so I can get the miles credited to my FB account?

PS. The MU onsite CCP member dragon at AKL scolded me for the order, in which my name had been entered in my booking, which I had no say in as mentioned earlier. I ignored her, as I have done a few bookings before in my life., and I was not a fault...

A KQ ticketing mess meant some miles didn't post so with trepidation I filled in the webform and made a note to check in 4 weeks. I certainly wasn't expecting to get an email 11 minutes later confirming miles and XP had been posted. Even better, they posted correctly.

Genuinely impressed. No idea what tech they are using to resolve issues like this but I like it.
