Wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. Flew one way domestic first class with JAL last year (ITM-HND) and received full quota of Status/Points as listed on the Qantas earning table. Flew round trip HND-CTS in April, exactly same Fare class and received flexible economy credit and then when missing points/status query raised 'downgraded' to economy with no explanation! Qantas blames JAL, JAL blames Qantas and I am 100 status credits down, even with all the documentary evidence under the sun. Will raise a complaint with the Airlines Advocate, but curious if anyone has actually managed to navigate this mess and get the correct allocation as listed quite clearly on the earn tables and calculator.

Dealing with the call center by phone and email really feels like you are at the mercy of the mood of whoever is at the end of the line and weather in the Philippines.

Hi all

I have a simple one-way cash booking SYD-MEL in September. I have recieved a message a couple of weeks ago advising it has been cancelled and to select a new flight/refund. I have not acted on this so far but today had a further email chasing me.

Do I need to act on this or can I leave it until shortly prior to departure and take advantage of what is effectively a flexible ticket?

Thanks

Hello all

I am trying to modify a Oneworld DONE4 booked (perhaps foolishly I know) with Qantas. I need to make what I would normally consider a minor change in routing. After a somewhat grisly 2 + hour call to make an even more minor change I am reluctant to phone Qantas unless I have to, especially as I have no status. Could I ask the hivemind here whether there is any email I can use to ask for the changes? I am reasonably knowledgeable about the rules so I can be ultra precise. Alternatively am I better to call in Sydney business hours where there might be people more familar? Last time during London opening hoursI called what I believe from the accent of the person at the other end was South Africa and (fully understandably) there was no familiarity with the Oneworld product.

Thank you very much in advance!

I have a 50 status point loyalty bonus waiting for me to apply however its saying its expiry date is May 31, 2026 which is the same as my rollover/anniversary date. I've already renewed Platinum through May 2027 so I don't really want to apply more status points that are just going to get zero'd out at the end of this month. Does anyone know if there's any extension of the loyalty bonus being applied? I thought I read in another forum that there's ~14days or so past the expiry date for it to be applied but that doesn't seem right.

When visiting Aus next March, am looking to visit NZ for some of the trip (2 pax).

Have been looking at SYD-WLG (QF161) on the middle Monday of the month, then ALK-MEL (QF152) on Wednesday the following week.

QF currently charging A$ 1,071 for the WLG flight (‘sale’ pricing having finished the day before, then starts again on Apr 1st) and A$701 for the AKL flight (there is an approx. A$30 saving when booking both as a Multi-City)

Both prices are up a bit from last week

Was wondering if I should bite the bullet and book now or should I hold off as current prices appear high for flights across the Tasman, even for that time of year..?

Thanks

Hi all, I’m sorry if this is not the right forum. I tried to look this up before posting and am having a very rough day.

My MIL is about to pass in Noumea. When trying to purchase a ticket on the next flight from LAX to Nou via Syd, the itinerary went for available, to unable to go through with the purchase.

i was able to purchase RT tickets between LAX and SYD, as well as a separate RT ticket SYD-Nou on the Quantas website. I made sure to purchase that ticket through Qantas website, even though it’s a flight operated by Air Calin.

I’ve never been to SYD airport. Will I be able to link my tickets at LAX so that I do not need to collect bags in Syd? I am extremely worried about being denied boarding at LAX because I don’t have a temporary visa which appears to be necessary to clear immigrations and pick up baggage before rechecking.

Any advice? Thanks , all. I’m usually a pretty savvy traveler, but this has rocked my world. I accidentally tried to walk through security yesterday with my bag I meant to check-in, but forgot. I’ve never ever done something like that.

thanks all, sorry if this information is clearly stated somewhere, my brain is in a fog and not working so great right now.

edited to add that my flight departing LAX is in 13 hours.

I'm looking at potentially booking J awards on the QF codeshares for the TN LAX-PPT and PPT-LAX flights, and in researching here and other places online, I'm having trouble finding current and/or non-conflicting info for some of my questions. I would appreciate it if anyone with better knowledge could answer my questions below.

Is calling still required to book PPT-LAX as a one-way ticket like this thread from 2022 indicates? If so, is there a better time to call for a shorter wait and/or better agents? I'm in the US, so calling in the middle of the night in Australia is easy enough.

Is it possible to select seats in advance? The Qantas TN page says no, but I've seen conflicting data points online from 2025 that suggest it might be possible by either using the TN record locator on the TN website or by calling TN. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any info from the past 6 months.

Am I reading the Qantas TN page correctly that I'll have access to the TN lounge (i.e., Star Alliance lounge) at LAX even though I would be flying on a QF flight number on 081 ticket stock? Am I also correct that I wouldn't have access to the QF business lounge?

Would my baggage allowance be the one defined by TN? I haven't transferred points yet, so I don't have enough to proceed far enough in a dummy booking to see what Qantas says the allowance is.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, during a recent Double Status Credit promotion, I booked a J flight that involves FCO-LHR-PER-MEL. Unfortunately, the original PER-MEL flight has been cancelled, and I have been moved to an earlier flight that leaves me with 40 mins connecting at PER which means high change of misconnect. When I log into Qantas Manage Booking I am offered an option to rebook my flights. Options include FCO-PER-MEL and FCO-LHR-SIN-MEL.

With that involuntary change, I thought to use the opportunity to spend some time in London (still <24 hours so no additional APD), and change it to a FCO-LHR-SIN-MEL.

Online, this FCO-LHR-SIN-MEL option involves flights with 'close' connections, e.g. 2h 40 min at LHR (depart FCO afternoon, then connect for QF2 at 2050h). I prefer an early FCO-LHR flight, to arrive in London in the morning; spend about 10 hours in London before taking QF2 in the evening.

1. I presume a phone call to Qantas should get that sorted, without charges or fees? (I have not flown my first segment of my ticket yet)
2. I presume I can still ask for the "original route credit" (with DSC added), given that this still constitutes an involuntary change?
- Am I correct that I should complete the flights, then e-mail Qantas FF to have it sorted?

Currently QF Bronze, but will be Plat at the end of the trip. Thank you!

I understand from the Qantas website that entry to the international lounge at BNE has temporarily moved landside until late 2026. For passengers in international transit, who are not entering Australia and cannot access the lounge this way, it says:
"Transit Note: If you are connecting directly from another international flight, visit the Qantas International Transfer Desk for specific guidance on how to reach the lounge under these temporary conditions."
Has anyone been in this situation and can share some information on what this means in practice? Do they escort you to the lounge through some other access way that does not involve going through immigration?
I am starting a journey from the U.S. to New Zealand via BNE shortly and it would be good to understand what to expect on arrival. I want to use the showers in transit and any time lost figuring this out might jeopardise my plan.

Orignially I was CDG-PER-MEL (23 hrs), but due recent events Qantas has canceled that and wants me to accept the new flight. CDG-SYD (stop in SIN) and then SYD-MEL (total 26.5 hrs).

Should I just accept this option or try to find an alternative route? I can be a bit more flexible on date and location for shorter travel time (ie LHR-PER-MEL or FCO-PER-MEL). The dream seems to be if I can take the first leg ot the CDG-SYD and then board the Qantas flight from SIN-MEL.

Any insight or receommendations would be super helpful. Thanks!

Wondering how long I should reasonably allow to clear Customs/Immigration (assume I will have an eVisitor visa in hand and not carrying any food products) before being able to check-in in T1 for a QF flight to SYD?

Thanks
