Booked BA GLA-LHR-SEA and return in Business whilst BA Silver (now Bronze) in February for an August trip, I was comfortably Silver for circa 10 years with a mix of Transatlantics (usually 3 pa) an odd European and a couple of domestics, then the 'change' was announced so I decided to go elsewhere for the Transatlantics and the other airline was mostly fine but was tempted back after they changed the rules slightly and I miss the tablet in the BA GLA Lounge, but, got an email this morning informing of the cancellation of my 12:25 GLA-LHR flight to connect with the 16:30 Seattle flight and offered the redeye 05:50 flight giving me circa 9 hours at LHR before my SEA flight, eh, no thanks, checked online and there were Business Class Seats available on the 08:00, 09:05, 10:00, 10:45, and 13:25 GLA-LHR flights so why on earth did they only offer me the 05:50 flight when there were more flights nearer my original departure time? Couldn't change online so directed to a Chatbot then a real person on the chat, but sorry couldn't change the 05:50 time as "Error" kept coming up so given a number, TBF not that long a wait and eventually got through to someone in an overseas location, eventually established that the 05:50 flight was unsuitable and that I'd prefer the 10:45 flight as if any delays the 13:25 flight might be cutting it a bit fine connection wise if there were any delays, so flight changed from 05:50 to 10:45, all good, then I said can I get the same seat I'd booked on my original booking (3A), no, not available, ok what about 3F, no not available, eventually offered 6A which is fine but then she said "that'll be £19 for seat selection Sir" - now £19 isn't a lot but I'd already booked it free whilst Silver, BA had tried to get me onto a totally unsuitable redeye then saw fit to charge me extra for a seat on a later flight, "hold on sir" she said then came back and said something about "exceptional circumstances" or somesuch and waived the fee, was on the chat/phone over an hour, and 7 minutes after hanging up thinking everything done and dusted got an email from BA saying - "We need to speak to you about your existing reservation with us. Please call British Airways at your earliest convenience, quoting the reference number detailed above.
If you do not contact us then you may encounter issues" - Honestly.

95k AS points + $200 on AS website, 57.5k AA miles + , or… 85k avios + $1467.63 (!!!!) as the low-cash Avios options ?
Seems like BA is pricing it is a First class ticket with the requisite avios rates despite it being marketed as a Business class product by AS.
Any advice on the possibility of convincing BA that it is a Business class product? And how to work with the fees?
Anyone had any luck with getting quoted lower tax amounts in similar situations? I’d rather not pay that much in tax and I’ve seen other threads with people saying the amounts can be inconsistent.

if I’d have any luck calling back and keeping my fingers crossed for a different quote then I’ll give it a go

Id quite like to take the bulkhead window when it becomes unblocked. A niche question but curious if anyone knows a definite… if I open the outbound seat selection/map (which is now no problem as I can select for free from 7 days out), would this do anything to affect my return flight seat selection? I’m quite big on not having a seat recline into my face in WTP and would rather avoid paying the £90 or so it would cost if that’s a likely scenario

Thanks

A minor inconvienience in the grand scheme of things, so more than anything I'm curious to know how it happened.

Was on a multi-hop LHR-HKG-SYD-SIN-LHR (BA / CX / QF / BA). To balance the company policy that this specific trip was in Y, the corporate TA had, allegedly, reserved me exit row seats for all four sectors. At LHR, all good. At HKG, I couldn't check in because "the reservation wasn't linked to the booking", swiftly fixed by a CX agent; I got an exit row. At SYD, no exit row - but it was never clear that this was bookable, let alone reserved for me, so no drama.

For SIN-LHR, however, things became murkier. BA's MMB had shown me to be in an exit row for months prior, right up until I tried to check in. It was, as far as I was concerned, bought-and-paid-for. However, at check in, I was offered a middle seat at the back. Fortunately SIN ground staff helped with something better, but reported that the pax in 'my' seat had "definitely paid for it".

Which leads to the following questions:

Is it possible that the corporate TA did not pay for the seat reservation(s), but merely provisionally put me in the relevant seats hoping that no-one else would buy them?

What does "the reservation wasn't linked to the booking" mean, in the context that this was the second sector? Had the PNR not been linked to CX's systems?

I know this is somewhat of a long shot, but wondering if anyone would have an opinion (or, by chance be travelling the same day as my scenario and willing to help).

On 14 Sep 2026, we're flying LHR to Las Vegas in a group. Four of us are flying Business Class with Companion Vouchers. A friend has booked economy today to join the trip. From reading forums and online guidance, it seems impossible to get our friend into the BA Lounge in T5 unless one of us are Silver level or above, which none of us are.

Do you think it's feasible to ask someone outside the lounge (perhaps if we see they have a silver or gold luggage tag) to take our friend in as their guest? I know I'd do it if someone asked me and I was flying solo for work, which I used to do for a while.

Hi all,
Had an issue 2 weeks ago where I was flying CPH-LHR-MIA and my flight out of CPH was delayed (and eventually cancelled) due to a technical issue with the plane discovered upon landing the night before.

I was able to get the last seat on the next CPH-LHR flight, but missed my connecting flight, as well as my secondary option. I ended up landing in Miami 6+ hours later than planned.

Two days later I went to submit my EU/UK 261 compensation form and got an auto-reject email from BA saying they’d closed my case as they already offered me £150 in compensation vouchers for the cancellation. That email had actually gone to spam, so I hadn’t seen it/acknowledged it/accepted it. The rejection email gave me the option to ‘respond to this email’ if I wanted to fight it, which I’ve done twice in the two weeks since. No updates from BA.

Is there anything I can do to speed this along? No one on the phone can help.

Thanks
