ANA has announced that it will retire the 777-300 by the end of this year. 777-300ER operating international flights will continue to operate.

ANA first acquired a 777-300 (non-ER version) in 1998 and operated its first flight on HND-HIJ on July 10, 1998. ANA has acquired a total of seven 777-300 (non-ER version) and currently operates three 777-300 domestically in a 514-seat configuration (21 Premium Class). JAL retired the 777-300 (non-ER version) in 2021.

ANA will use 787-10 configured in 428 seats (28 Premium Class) as a replacement for 777-300, which is a decrease of 86 seats per aircraft.

The news about the retirement of the 777-300 means the end of the 500-seater aircraft in Japan. The first 500-seater aircraft appeared in Japan when ANA acquired a 747-100SR in 1978 and configured as 500 seats. 747-400 ANA operated in domestic configuration had 565 seats. By the end of this year, there will be no more 500-seater aircraft in Japan.

Anyone know what would happen to the miles in this specific scenario:
an existing tranche of miles expiring in 24 months was used to purchase award seats (refer to as redemption A).
Another tranche of miles were transferred with 36 month expiration. They were used for another award seat (redemption B).

If I cancel redemption A later, will the points returned have 24 months left or will it assume the 36 month expiration.

Thanks in advance.

When checking the price for that middle segment separately, it's only a 30k miles + $32... (or $480 cash).

Is this correct? Are they recalculating taxes and fees for re-booking the entire itinerary?

I have 2 separate one-way award flights that I have some questions, both are same-day connections:

JFK-HND (PE) HND-TSA (Y)
- Would I have access to NH lounge in HND given that the next segment doesn't have PE ?

OKA-HND (Y) / NRT-ORD (J)
- Would I have access to NH domestic lounge in OKA ?
- Given that this is an award, would it be possible to "stand-by" for an earlier OKA-HND flight ? Currently I have 3h35m to switch airports in Tokyo, would prefer the earlier option giving me 4h15m instead

Not the end of the world if all answers are NO, thanks in advance

ANA Business Class (‘The Room’) – 777-300ER

Route: Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow

Flight: NH211

Cabin: Business Class (“The Room”)

Seat: 10C

ANA’s “The Room” is, on paper, one of the most impressive business class hard products currently flying. The privacy, width, and overall design are genuinely market-leading, and the cabin feels more like a first-class product than business.

However, one notable gap materially impacted the sleep experience: no mattress pad or topper was proactively offered.

For a seat of this width and firmness, the absence of a mattress layer makes a meaningful difference. While the seat itself is spacious, it is relatively firm in bed mode, and without a topper, comfort falls short of key competitors. Airlines such as JAL, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines all provide mattress pads as standard in their long-haul business class cabins, and it has become an expected part of the premium sleep experience.

Service overall was polished and professional, and it’s entirely possible a mattress could have been requested. However, on a flagship product like this, I would expect it to be either standard or proactively offered, rather than something the passenger needs to ask for.

In summary:

Hard product: exceptional

Soft product (sleep): good, but not yet best-in-class

Opportunity: align bedding offering with the quality of the seat itself

With a simple adjustment to bedding, “The Room” would be very difficult to beat globally.

How does ANA handle rerouting

A fellow member pointed me in the direction of this subforum after I posted at https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ocea...situation.html

To summarise, I have a return PER-NRT-ORD booked for late next month. I was just curious, and the folks on here would have a better feel for this than anyone, if ANA started reducing flights like Cathay have done due to the fuel situation, what is the likelihood of PER-NRT route being affected? (I don't imagine there would be a problem with the US leg)

If the flight from Perth is affected, what obligation does ANA have to rebook an alternative route to ORD? (I have booked business class, paid with cash - not points). The other topic indicated they might rebook on SQ (via Singapore) or QF (via Sydney) but suggested I ask the question here for more definitive responses.

Hopefully there will be no issue (is jet fuel coming into Australia in normal quantities?), just want to be prepared for any contingencies. Thanks
