Budget at MDT: Tire pressure low

I usually rent from Hertz, but decided to try Budget for a recent trip (and get more AA LPs) about a month ago.

Anyway, the vehicle seemed fine when I picked it up at MDT. However, the weather in the area got pretty cold at night (down to 30F at least once during my trip). I'm not sure if there was just a slow leak when I picked it up, something I did (I guess I could have driven over glass in a parking lot), or if it was just weather... But one of the tires repeatedly got low during the trip.

My solution was to find a free air pump and keep it inflated enough. The very first time it happened, I told my brother-in-law, who had me to go a Weis (I got gas too), for a free air pressure machine. Over the next few days, I learned that Sheetz also has free air, and just planned my routes around those. It seemed worse first thing in the morning (there was one day I didn't drive the vehicle at all, the following morning, when it was about 30F, that tire pressure was extremely low).

The night before my return, I went to that same Weis, topped off gas and air, and in the morning (the air temp was warmer, maybe 50F), it was actually fine (a little low, but passable).

So my question for the Budget experts...what should I have done?

I've had similar happen with Hertz (not a tire, but expired registration, various things happen), and was able to exchange it for a different vehicle, no charges. But I have status with Hertz, and had company insurance (for both work or personal rentals), so that might have played out there. One time another vehicle hit my rental in a parking lot (work trip), and they gave me an upgraded vehicle when I exchanged it, and apologized for it (I sent them my company insurance contact and never heard from them again. that was probably 13 years ago).

There was someone at the Budget MDT vehicle turn-in area, but he didn't say anything. Actually didn't even ask me how the vehicle was (Hertz always asks that). He simply looked to see that I topped off the gas, did a quick once over of the panel, and told me the receipt would be emailed. It has now been about a month, so I'm hopeful that I won't hear anything now...

I booked an avis car online for one day. Meaning I picked it up in the morning and had scheduled to drop it off that evening. This was all part of the actual booking with the pickup and dropoff time set. I didn't need the car overnight. I prepaid the booking. I just got my invoice and now they are claiming becaue I didn't have the car for a day I have to pay a different rate? They are charging me an extra $109 on top of the $174 I already paid (that $174 included tolls/insurance/care rental etc)! The actual rental rate they charged me is over double the rate I booked for the car itself. Is this normal? I am considering disputing the charge with my credit card company because I specifically told them I wanted the car for this time period and they gave me a prepaid rate for that rental and I paid it. This isn't a situation where I brought the car back earlier than what I had told them. If the rate was going to be this much they should have told me in advance. I've done rentals like this multiple times in the past and have never had this issue, but my real beef is that they were told in advance my time frame and they gave me a quote based on that booking without mentioning this. Am I missing something here? Should I go back to that AVIS office tomorrow and dispute it?

Conversely, if you reserve a car for 2:00 pm, but you managed to get to your car early (flight was actually on time), and you got the car at 1:35 pm, did the rental start at 2:00 pm or 1:35 pm?

I just got a letter (dated 13 May, postmarked 15 May, received 22 May) declaring damage and demanding almost $1300 for a dent. The record included 3 photos (VIN sticker, dashboard/ODO, and steering wheel), none indicating any damage (and horribly low res as well). I tried calling them twice, got bounced around and "our systems are down", opened two tickets via email and the online portal (once it came back up). No damage happened to the car, none was noted at return.

Emailed the branch operations manager (who had emailed me with a "follow up/review" email...)

My plan is to contact Nevada Consumer Affairs on Wednesday, along with Nevada DMV, and US FTC (where I "know some people, thank God..."), since this seems to be a pattern of behavior
by rental car agencies. It's on an Amex so I'll just dispute any charges but looks like I'm done with renting from Avis; not merely with "mistaken damage" but how they handle damage/claims generally. But if I can get regulators involved and definitively solve this problem for others, will be quite happy to do so.

Didn’t have reserved car at SFO and tried to scam me

I booked a convertible for a road trip from SFO to LAX for around 500. When I arrived at the counter they said they had no convertibles and tried offering me a Hyundai sonata or some random suvs and told me I could go sit and wait hours for a convertible if I wanted one.

Did not want a downgrade so I spoke a manager who initially offered a bunch of random suvs that were significant downgrades before eventually offering a xc90 which I took but did not really want because it was too big for my use.

Then they said they couldn’t do the xc90 because it was too much of an upgrade and offered a c300 which is a downgrade. I asked them to lower the rate but they said they couldn’t do anything and told me to rebook it on the app to get a better rate. Ended up having to rebook on the spot to pay 400 instead of 500 for the original convertible reservation. I am quite unhappy as I remember back when I was originally booking, luxury/ premium cars which is what I got were only 200-300 dollars, meaning I had to spend 100-200 more because they did not have a convertible which I would have happily paid for. I wanted a convertible not a xc90 but they couldn’t even give me that despite being a pc member. What can I try to do to get some money back and maybe still get a convertible.
Tldr: Booked a convertible, was offered bunch of crap, ended up having to take a downgrade and paying much more for the downgrade than I would have if I had booked the downgrade initially.
