I was unable to find a thread on this one - apologies if I missed it. For my first night in Costa Rica, I stayed at this property - it’s okay. Here are my impressions and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to a King Suite High Floor on the top floor
  • Couch was decently comfortable
  • Bed was comfortable - medium slightly plush mattress, covers were decently plush for climate
  • Room was plenty stylish
  • You can walk to both Avenida Escazu and Multiplaza Mall from this location
  • Gym was decent with three treadmills
  • I believe they charged me directly in USD as the amount on my CC came out to the exact total I expected

Neutral:
  • Pillows were a bit flat (at least once laid on)
  • Shower pressure was fine from the wand, but the setting with decent water pressure didn’t have a wide area of coverage

Cons:
  • They would not give 4 PM in my suite - I had to move to a standard room in the morning to get 4 PM checkout, which I actually needed this time
  • Breakfast - I was told at check-in that any special orders would be charged and I only had buffet access - the eggs on the buffet were bad - cakes were okay - overall a lame breakfast

We basically plan our travels and vacations around where a Hyatt is located and have never had a major issues until recently. I have waited to post this... Before Covid I was globalist and for the last 10+ years have only stayed at Hyatt properties. We basically plan our travels and vacations around where a Hyatt is located and have never had a major issues until recently. I have waited to post this because I wanted to see what the GM of Hyatt Place Columbia/Harbison would say to me but they never reached out. The Hyatt Facebook customer service team did refund my stay and then sent me 15k points to make me happy but that is not worth me not letting others know how disgusting this property is. The FB team also reached out to the property to let them know i was waiting to hear back from them and it's been a week and still nothing. The workers at the property were kind but man there were so many red flags. Our room AC was not working, the toilet was messed up and wouldn't stop running, dirt was everywhere. We eventually couldn't take the heat so they offered to move us. They then sent us to another room that already had people in it. OK fine, a simple mistake we can accept. Then sent us to a third room and thank god the AC was working. The front desk also questioned us how long we were in room #1 and we said like 2+hrs & they then said well it's probably still clean so we're going to just give that to someone else (a room that we have already stayed in and has no working AC and the toilet wont stop running). The final room we stayed in did need a good dusting/mop but whatever, at least the sheets/beds LOOKED clean. Then in the morning, we were lifting sheets to make sure we didn't leave anything in the bed and the sun revealed the comforter was absolutely disgusting. We slept in that all night and felt so upset we allowed our kids to sleep in these unhygienic conditions. I have stayed at this property many times over the years and never expect it to rival an Andaz or Grand Hyatt but damn, i expect it to at least be clean. I will never stay here again and will now lift every single comforter before sleeping at every hotel from here on out. Let me reiterate, to the naked eye it looked clean, it was only when you lift it up in the sun can you see anything. They looked 100% white/clean when just on the bed or even moving them around like normal. Also, the breakfast was terrible even when comparing it to every single time we've stayed there in the past.

When I click on "Offer", "Learn More", to book my hotel, "Special offer code" shows blank and the best rate is their "member save more (advance purchase)" rate. The saving here is nowhere near the 25% off the Standard Rate that is being advertised.

I recently realized my Cat 1–4 Free Night Certificate was about to expire, so I started looking for a quick staycation option. I usually lean toward places like Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia or Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson for these kinds of trips, but this time I was surprised to see that Seaview Hotel, Destination by Hyatt had availability. I booked a one-night stay in a two-queen room as a Globalist and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a deluxe room. Here’s a quick review before I forget.

The hotel is nicely situated in Galloway, just outside the hustle and bustle (if you can call it that) of Atlantic City, in a quiet and pleasant area. The main draw is the golf course attached to the property, and the hotel clearly caters to golfers. The grounds are well-kept, and parking is available both valet and self—free in my case.

The room was a good size, and breakfast at one of the on-site restaurants was genuinely delicious, which stood out for a U.S. property. During our stay, we also made use of the indoor pool and game room. The staff were excellent throughout.

That said, the property is starting to show its age—particularly in areas like the carpets and elevators—but nothing that detracted significantly from the stay.

Overall, it was a solid use of a Cat 1–4 certificate and a nice way to check another brand off my Brand Explorer list.
