I have a RTW business class ticket booked through the Lufthansa desk. I have made an amendment to a flight from MIA to LHR via YUL. The original flight was all business in "Z". I Requested an amendment to add a stop over in YUL. Lufthansa explained that I could not simply change the date of the YUL to LHR flight, they had to cancel and rebook the two flights. In the meantime, Air Canada changed the availability of seats in the Z bucket to Z0 for the MIA to YUL flight so I would have to accept a downgrade. Checking Expertlyer there was indeed zero seats in Z on the date. I checked the following day and there were Z seats available indicted as Z7. Lufthansa stated that there were still no Z seats available on any AC flights that day from MIA -YUL and I would have to downgrade.

I have agreed to this downgrade on the following day and they have booked me as confirmed in B class with a waitlist request in Z class. Expertflyer still shows Z5 on the flight. If anyone wants to check the flight is AC1207 on 8th March 2027.
Can anyone explain why if there is Z availability showing in Expertflyer but Lufthansa are unable to allocate seats against that availability on a RTW fare. It implies that there are different classes of Z seats in the system.
I did check with them and even sent a screenshot from Expertflyer. They were adamant that there was no availability that they could book a business class seat on the flight.

Been playing with the RTW site for a bit and the fuel surcharges bounce between something like $900 and $2000. Would anyone have any high level advice on what drives these? In the award world, depending on program, there’s an established “don’t book these airlines if you don’t want to go broke”, but not sure if this is the case with the RTW. I feel like having any LH flight adds a lot of YQ, but I haven’t really gotten a good hang of it yet.

Any advice welcome!

Hello everyone. I am a star alliance gold member (A3 - miles and bonus). Recently I noticed that Turkish airlines have vanished all available award seats from partner star alliance airlines, meaning there are not available seats for booking via Aeroplan, or United etc programs. Is this something temporary or the airline changed their strategy? Does anyone have any such experience from the past?

Hi,

Until early last year, whenever I would redeem UA economy awards with TK, I would get a free bag. This would only happen with TK. Redeeming on A3, SQ, etc. would not get that free bag.

Obviously this was way beyond the period where any economy award would get a free bag, but nonetheless there was some sort of "special fare" and the free bag would appear in the booking. While redeeming the ticket, it would say null for free bags and yet there would be 1 free checked bags.

Just curious if there's any other A* airline where this may still be happening. Thanks!

Newark/EWR, which has previously been included as a part of New York City/NYC for pricing, fare construction and mileage. The Multi-Airport City list adopted within IATA has removed Newark/EWR from New York City/NYC. If an airline files fares to/from NYC, but services/sells fares to/from EWR, it should be clear that EWR will no longer be considered a part of the Multi-Airport City of NYC for pricing, fare construction or mileage as of 01 October 2022.

I'm pretty sure I can't make a stop in JFK and another in EWR ... so what's the right answer?
