Aldi removes acceptance in some regions

Felt this deserved its own thread since it is a multi-billion company, but it appears Aldi has removed AmEx network acceptance in Michigan. This type of game feels really like a blast from the past.

This is a test of something, but we know the decent AmEx offer just ended. I obviously stacked this promo along with BCE and maybe others stacked it with Gold. The offer was via Cardlytics so it was also on most Chase cards too, but I personally feels the AmEx Offer implementation is one of the best, if not the best.

I personally think this is not allowed per their AmEx merchant agreement, but I don't know what they expect. Obviously, people have an alternate card, but do they wait for people to email complaints? I actually think complaints to AmEx are as important if not more if you are impacted.

Sure, AmEx could offer a lower rate. I can guess that Aldi is not hitting the lowest rate threshold due to volume, but Aldi wants to negotiate out that reduction.

The worse situation for customers is if Aldi tries to go for warehouse club status, but we see tons of interesting Walmart/AmEx bonuses, so who knows...

MR (USA) => Flying Blue (KL/AF) not working on 1st day of transfer bonus.

Typical of Amex - launch a 25% promo and then transfers are not working on day 1 of the promo. So annoying.

First tried online - shows confirmation on Amex site but no miles show up and nothing in Amex MR history. Call in and they manually push it to AF/KL. Same problem, shows confirmed in their system but then nada over at KL/AF and does not show in the history on Amex.com. Tried again online. No dice. Chatted with Amex and they agreed that no transfers had been made. They tried and got same problem - shows all OK but then nothing actually happens. Lovely.

Can I bring a guest to EZE Centurion lounge?

I know the guest rules have changed over the years due to overcrowding.

I feel like I need a decision tree or a degree in lounge access to figure all this out though

I have a Platinum AMEX and typically travel alone, so no problems there.

Sometimes I travel with my companion who has an additional card on my account (not the free one), and no problems there either.

But I will be traveling soon at EZE in Buenos Aires with a family member who I want to bring in as a guest, they have no Plat card.

I'm trying to decipher thru the new rules and I THINK I can bring her with me but not sure.

I spent over $75K on the card last calendar year in 2025, does this matter or help me?

What if my spending in 2025, was < $75K? Would I still be able to bring her?

For 2026, since we are in May, I haven't met that threshold yet. Does that make a difference

Booking 3 nights at ibis Styles Sevilla Santa Justa, mid-June. Paying with Amex Plat (US). Trying to pick between three paths and would value a gut check from people who've actually run the stacks.

Option 1: Accor.com direct: $473 total

Collect Accor ALL points
3 status-qualifying nights
1X MR
Rakuten 2X

Option 2: Expedia via expedia.com/amex (enrolled offer), Pay Now: $526

10% Amex statement credit
1X MR (Expedia.com ≠ AmexTravel, so no 5X, right?)
No Accor points/nights

Option 3: Option 2 + Rakuten 10% stacked (per the Frequent Miler URL/extension trick (not banking on this working, but it'd be nice if it did))

Questions:
1. Anyone confirm 5X MR definitively does not apply to Expedia.com prepaid, even via the /amex landing page? Assume no, but want to be sure, since my card is enrolled in the offer.
2. Recent data points on the Rakuten + Amex Offer stack actually tracking on Expedia? Extension activation vs. URL edit � which is more reliable lately?
3. Am I underweighting the value of booking Accor direct (room assignment, modifications, status nights toward Silver)? Not currently chasing status but open to it.
4. Anything I'm missing? better portal, Accor promo I should know about for June?

Credit limit increase hassle

About six months ago I received an email saying the limit on my Platinum Deta business card had been increased. I hadn't asked, and no documentation was requested. Yesterday I requested an increase on my personal Plat card, and they wanted the last three months of bank statements. It doesn't make sense that they arbitrarily raised one card, yet question the same increase on another card. Why couldn't they just look at overall charges, high credit score, and perfect payment history?
