I've spent the last few years always checking in online, partly in the hope of breaking any ties for an e-up. I've almost always travelled with carry-on only, so skipped the ckeck-in desk and used the app or downloaded BP.

This year, I've travelled with others and checked bags. On my last trip I didn't even check in online! I wasn't waiting for an upgrade, and my mom needed a wheelchair in any case. But while tracking the standby and upgrade list (which I always do), I noticed that almost everyone had pre-checked in for both J and PY. On my flight tomorrow afternoon, 19 people have already checked in for PY and J combined. Why?

Tomorrow I have a connection to another airline so I want to get a paper BP, but I'm already in J and am not checking a bag, so is there any point in checking in today? They have to check my docs at some point in any case.

So do you check in online or just wait until the airport?

I tried calling in to book it, and the agent on the line also encountered a similar error. I asked why this wasn't bookable, and the explanation was that the YYJ–YVR segment wasn't available in business class.

I'm confused as to what exactly makes this unbookable. Any suggestions?

The payment method (credit card) was also cancelled about 8 months ago, and the refund did not go thru. AC sent me an email with a few options, the digital option being to reply to that email with a new credit card # split up in 2 emails "for security". The sender email address appears legit, and there is a case number.

I'm surprised they don't have a more secure way to handle this digitally.

It is kinda crazy that nobody is talking about a non-minor devaluation that has been published for quite a while now.

On AC site a new line is added that says:
"As of June 1, 2026, we’re making a few changes to the number of points you may need to redeem for a reward."

You can find the new PDF here.

Entertaining that it implies that AC can somehow predict the future: "Median amounts are based on member redemptions with Air Canada and select partners from January 2025 through December 2026."

Some changes are positive, like reducing certain Y costs, but most changes are negative, one of the worst is NA-Pacific zone band 3. It is a whopping 102500 miles in J now. It is wild that YVR-TPE-BKK now costs more than YVR-DEL. Various other minor devaluations can be found too, like NRT-PER going from 45k to 52.5k in J. Feel free to spot the difference and let others know.

The end is nigh.

Traveling as a party of 5: YYZ-LHR on the outbound, coming home from DUB. (AC metal both ways.)

Looking to confirm our baggage allowance...but AC's own tools are providing conflicting info:

When I booked, the email confirmation I received listed 1st Bag: Complimentary and 2nd Bag: Complimentary. (Not that I noticed it at the time.)

However, after seat selection (done an hour after the original booking), the 2nd email confirmation gives 1st: Complimentary and 2nd: $100...which is what is expected. [No status + Core CC (doesn't stack) + Economy Standard (shows as K class) -- I did apply a promo code at booking.]

Today, when I accessed the reservation with AC's website, I again see Complimentary/Complimentary.

#funfact: EI's default weight limit (for checked) is 20kg. Would have been a nasty surprise at the counter enroute to DUB.

I've had it the other way, where, prior to travel, AC's tools show a fee, but my CC benefit kicked-in at OLCI.

It appears one or two in our party will need an extra bag, so while I've told the gulity parties to expect to pay $100 for a 2nd bag, I'm wondering what source to rely on (hoping to avoid having to call into Reservations).

TIA!
