United and yoga pants: points and miles bloggers Waterloo?

How many bloggers jumped to conclusions about the yoga pants thing?

Have so many so-called experts ever gotten something so spectacularly wrong?

To summarize: UA denied a non-rev boarding because her attire did not meet non-rev dress code. It got tweeted about by a pax. Bloggers jumped all over the story blasting UA for denying boarding to paying pax (although I suppose a couple mused about whether the pax was non-rev). Truth outs and plenty of egg on plenty of faces.

Now many defenses: blame UA twitter team. Edit original post to reduce egg to face ratio. Claim they knew it all along.

Sigh.

One of the most ridiculous viral posts ever?

In my blog today I posted this paragraph (the links did not make it through)

There was an incident about leggings on United flights. A total non story as former flight attendant Ramsey explained in the comments. And the whole internet went ballistic. Numerous posts about leggings, The Points Guy Inc even did a #LeggingsGateSpecial Report (yeah, please stop laughing) and One Mile at a Time even went on a local NBC affiliate to show his expertise on leggings. Mommy Points posted pictures of her daughters in leggings. So much bandwidth to make you puke. I tried to convince my wife to wear leggings and let me post a few photos of her in my blog just as a parody…but I think she is getting a little tired of my funny requests lately “I am NOT Emily”…When she gets mad I am scared lol.

Every time you click on a Boarding Area blog...it makes money. THINK!

Just confirms the level of journalistic integrity that these bloggers have.

I thought the OMAAT coverage was pretty on-point and balanced. I especially liked Tiffany's piece yesterday.
