If by scoured you mean, "Marriott sent us this list to help sell their credit cards in a deceptive manner...."

Scott Mayerowitz is doing journalism proud in the world that talks about how great Marriotts Bonvoy award chart changes is. That world is 1984.

What good are lower category hotels when Marriott cannot properly credit points?

they do a lot of good when Marriott has editorial veto power and you have a post quota, and prey on unsophisticated travelers and readers who don't know better

"however, for better or for worse, I’m choosing to stick with Marriott (and I’m not the only one here at TPG)."

Wow I wonder how long before Marriott makes them remove the "for worse" #journalism

Looks like Samsung saw what Marriott was doing and wanted in.

"ua1flyer" is now providing video "tips" as the world's most frequent flyer on TPG.

Ugh.

At least he's smart enough to get paid for the work.

Maybe he'll bring some journalistic standards and integrity to TPG.

Yeah, yeah, I know, just wishful thinking.

Gary has jumped on the bash TPG for being in bed with Marriott bandwagon, but in a less TMZ sort of way:

No, TPG, Marriott Devaluations Aren’t Good for Members

Wow it's like the "haters" have had a point all these years that The Points Guy is just a marketing tool for businesses and not a valid broker of expertise, and that Brian Kelly is essentially a used car salesman in the employ of Bankrate!

Appears Brian has personally come out in the comments section to defend the journalistic integrity (not even being facetious) of the Bonvoy post, and now the site has shut down comments. One can only hope this is the beginning of the end of the content farm/marketing scheme that has ruined the usefulness of blogs, corrupted otherwise talented writers, and provided a platform for banks, Brian, and travel providers to get rich off customers who don't know better.

That article saying that when it comes to Bonvoy 'up is down' and '2 + 2 = 5 'coming on the heels of Brian hobnobbing with the Bonvoy folks at the Oscars certainly feels like a tipping point.

Industry trade press walk a fine line between reporting on the industry they cover honestly while neither getting in bed with the industry nor pissing the industry - who are the advertisers - off (hello, RenesPoints). TPG got in bed with the industry and it shows.

The fact that Brian showed up in the comments then turned them off says he may realize he effed up. Badly.

I don't think we'll see long-lasting change. These guys and their ilk are basically not accountable to anyone and they're just looking for new customers who can sign up for a credit card on some lofty pretenses. They aren't looking to build a steady long-term reader base. Outrage is momentary and will fade.
