Of course not, they'd each write a PR/HR approved "article" for the clicks.

I'm curious to see what the travel bloggers are going to do, and how desperate they're going to get to find some other reason to sell credit cards now that travel industry is in the toilet. (I can't wait for the intern piece about how to convert your Chase Ultimate Rewards points for toilet paper from a promoted startup company )

Gary did tweet that he wasn't going to comment on it, ironic given his tendency to post anything salacious.

Of course they do. They use each other as easy sources of info to republish with affiliate links added.

I'm really trying to figure this one out - in the middle of the COVID madness, Chase has launched a new United card AND a new offer for the Chase Ink Business Preferred card that has a higher bonus yet requires more spend?

Other bloggers have covered both of these (including DoC, so it's not just commission driven) so not blaming the bloggers here, but whose head is so far up their ... at Chase that they think now is a good time for these? The business offer is insanely bad - small businesses are hurting, and yet they find a way to ask for higher spend? What alternate universe are they living in?

Maybe Chase's contract with TPG has some insane targets that they know they can not meet which gets them out of a big jam?

Brian Kelly is advising people to start booking travel for the summer on his personal Instagram stories (in response to a question he received if someone should travel to Asia in the summer). He states all this should be over by late spring. He notes that if it's not safe to go at that time it's okay as the airlines will let you change or cancel your ticket for free.

Airlines, banks and other companies plan their campaigns well in advance. Putting it out even during a covid19 crisis shouldn't do any harm for banks atleast. If people don't take it up, it fizzles out ... at most people will scratch their head why its out there. Airlines, cruises, hotels etc is a different matter...

Correct. These were planned months in advance.
Just plain old bad timing.

Are you saying Chase has a contract with TPG that requires Chase to launch new cards or offers? Or the other way around?

While that may be the case, companies can and should have the ability to back out of product or marketing campaign launches. I worked at a company where we had a marketing/endorsement campaign with a celebrity all ready to go on a Monday, when the celebrity was arrested on the Saturday night right before it - we pulled that REAL quick, including getting all of our retail stores to not put up their displays/posters relating to the campaign.

TPG had an exclusive on the CSR when it first came out, remember? They probably had more "exclusive" type arrangements with banks since then, the Capital One type cards come to mind. It was probably bad timing but like you say...it makes no sense to be pushing those now with the world gripped with the virus and the stories with cocaine and stuff like that...

Sorry I'm getting off topic here, but turns out US Bank has more tact than Chase and apparently has delayed their Altitude card's relaunch.

Bets on Chase launching a Marriott offer and having a nice puff piece written all while Marriott is laying off hotel workers since nobody is booking hotels? That would just be the icing on the cake.
