This thread isn't about me, my "law breaking", or anything else but bloggers stealing content. [I'm not a blogger, although I do write trip reports.] They stole my photos, not libel or defamation. And yes, they do in fact sell credit cards under the guise of free first class travel. Meh.

Considering that is the topic of the thread, yes: stolen content by bloggers.

I've also learned that this is not the first time Forward Cabin has been accused of blatant plagiarism.

It's the wild west out there, people. There are no rules. Don't forget to strap on your six-shooter!
Anybody notice any blogs missing from BA/F2B today?

My blog post: http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/89722

BA blog post: http://canadiantravelhacking.boardin...gs-59-one-way/

Yes it starts off saying that he found it on my site, but what are this boards thoughts on the entire post being copied literally word for word from my post?

I think it's disrespectful, I'd be in contact with them asking them not to do it again.

Definitely a crappy thing, but at least they gave you credit for where they found it. They could've at least put some effort in though to not copy your information verbatim. I recently had a BA blogger copy one of my posts and just reverse the order of things. Not even a mention of where he saw it.

Ctownflyer's post above would also be relevant in the thread about Boarding Area's fail. Nice you did get attribution but the dude should have at least shown some effort on his own to not make it a so obvious cut and paste job.

This blogging thing sure sounds beeattchhy and competitive. I don't get it. You always give credit where due and put verbatim material in quotes and credit it.

Hell I even credit finds to users and link to the post on Reddit churning/awardtravel when there's something I didn't find that I'm writing about. It's a shady and crappy game and from that perspective, I'm pretty sorry I even entered that world. I deal with that enough during my day job as a lawyer to last a lifetime.

this is clearer, its focusing on (how) copy/paste, but not claiming "plagiarism"

much better argument to focus on best practices and "copying" etc

as newspapers and others have, with guidelines re how much can be copy/pasted

And even attributing the source doesn't license someone to copy it directly, beyond that allowed by fair use without permission. Looks like this blogger just lifted the whole text which is more than would be allowed.
