Does the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card offer roach protection?
I thought that was limited to the Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite MasterCard®?

About Andrew
Andrew's work as a government employee has forced him to learn to find humor in every situation, which he believes is the key to enjoying travel. An aviation geek who had never flown in a premium cabin prior to winning a trip to Finland from One Mile at a Time, Andrew now uses miles, points, and elite status to up his globe trekking game. His favorite animal is the golden retriever.
At least he managed to insert an affiliate link to AirBnB and Chase...

That post along with a few other ones recently really irked me. He keeps talking like AA is the worst run airline in the country with the worst ontime stats. If you go through the BTS data for 2018 (Jan thru Oct as of right now available), you will see that DL mainline is the best of the majors for ontime with the lowest delay percentage and the lowest cancellation percentage by far. AA and UA are effectively the same when it comes to delay percentage, but UA cancels less. The average delay on AA is however the lowest and they have the greatest percentage of delays attributable to weather rather than mex. DL has a far greater percentage of mex relative to all its delays. This idea that AA is far behind DL and UA in timeliness is really not entirely borne out by the stats and doesn't mean Parker needs to be fired (although there may be other reasons that could be the right thing to do). How many issues one experiences also depends heavily on the market one flies out of and into...I fly in and out of EWR and UA has been super unreliable for me the last year or two on the outbounds. SO last year I started flying AA out of EWR and I have had a huge improvement with reliability as a result. YMMV...there is no universal truth. But all that whining gets on my nerve...if you don't like it, just put your dollars where the reliability is.

Brutal. Worth mentioning that this post was not written by Ben, but rather his contributor Andrew. As a resident of TX, I can confirm that bugs are a part of life here even if you have Terminix treat the outside of your house quarterly. When it rains heavily or it gets very dry, it drives bugs indoors. And it always will....OH...and my 8-year old daughter would have handled this situation far better than Andrew...

VFTW has been on a rampage against AA of late, as well. Which I guess isn't surprising since OMAAT and VFTW often simultaneously post on the same things. Though Gary is usually more broad in his complaints.

SO I have to correct myself...that AeroMexico ad is apparently real. Their agency (Ogilvy) confirmed it, and AM confirmed it themselves on Twitter. The promotion is no longer available, but I was dead-wrong and Lucky was right. Kudos where kudos are due.

Yes, it's an actual advertisement created for the airline. But the "discount program based on DNA results" is a joke. That's where Ben was suckered (along with many others).

There is no such DNA test that will conclude that one is "XX% Mexican" because there is no single meaning of such. Aside from the "traditional" image of a Mexican having a combined Spanish and Native American ancestry, Mexican citizens also have Asian, African, Middle Eastern, and other heritage - with or without Native and/or Spanish DNA. DNA sampling of native populations in the Americas is spotty at best, so even identifying someone with ancestry linked to known groups who populated what is now Mexico, is difficult...and wouldn't prove anything as pre-Columbian people didn't tend to abide by our current national boundaries.

The folks in the video may or may not be real residents of Wharton, TX but they were part of the farce.

Pretty clever ad, though!

It looks like James has decamped OMAAT for TPG. Quite a loss for OMAAT as James is a skilled writer. But TPG is probably a better fit for his long form pieces.

And today ben is snipping back:

"I'm not saying any other sites are in bed with Marriott (just sharing limos to the Oscars ), but one has to wonder if it’s a coincidence that a negative post about marriott disappeared on a certain other site.

(Kudos to Richard for having the integrity to step back from that site when his post was pulled)"

That post was pretty bold and worthy of a link: https://onemileatatime.com/marriott-...ing-at-basics/

It's a bit ironic to see Ben calling out other bloggers for letting their relationships with travel service providers affect their journalistic integrity as he has taken plenty of perks himself. But for all of its irony it is also refreshing to see a spade called a spad by someone 'in the industry' of credit card hawking/content monetization!

Ben throwing some serious shade on TPG....I love it.

"The Oscars has nothing to do with miles & points, the Oscars has everything to do with “TPG Himself” living his D-list celebrity fantasy…"

Imagine Ben's surprise when he peruses his spouse's Instagram.

I don't like James' writing style, nor his repetitive and redundant articles, would be nice for some sort of statement that he's left or what, his posts just stopped

I don't like James or anybody else who is not Lucky writing on this blog.

Lucky has a long winded but personal and personable style that is drowned out by all other writers.
