EVA bid
They are offering me 300 USD to upgrade from PE from BKK to TPE. It is a 2 hour flight and it is worth it? I have done it both on Business and in PE and it does not make much of a difference as `I cannot sleep on such a short flight.
|
It's closer to 3h than 2h, so still US$100 per hour, really up to you
I wouldn't do it on 77W, now if it was Y to J on 787 I would be tempted |
Yes decided to skip it as they do have PE and I can bear it in PE and if PE is fully booked there is a good chance of me getting a bump up to J.
|
Yeah, 2 hours is really short, not enough time to really savor what J has to offer.
|
$300 from PE to J on such a short flight is really expensive
|
yes I declined the offer but PE was full and so was business. I do not know if business was full because of bids or they had diamond members.
|
another bid was not possible because I have been waitlisted for the UG using my points. I was told that they would have to take me off the waitlist for me to become eligible for the bid. They also said so far my chances look good too as have seats available and my status should help me but it is a bit early.

Minimum bid demanded of around USD 350 for KHH-ICN on a Y flex ("up" fare) flight I booked direct on BR. This minimum upgrade price added to the original fare paid would have made it actually more expensive than the cheapest J ("Business Standard") fare available. I think BR needs to look at their minimum bid pricing - or perhaps they actually don't want rationale and numerate passengers bidding. Either way it struck me as extremely odd...but then most of my experiences on BR have been a bit "this is our service and we are totally inflexible".

I really don't get the hype about EVA. If I was given the choice between SQ and BR, I will go for SQ any day. And given the cheaper price of middle-eastern airlines and turkish airlines, I will definitely go for the cheaper. But I will avoid N. American airlines and some European airlines at all cost.

Got an upgrade from PE to J from TPE to BKK at a very reasonable price. Don’t know if PE was full or not and they gave me one because I put a bid or on PE being full and I had G. If so a double win for them.
As comparing with Middle East airlines they don’t have PE and are not Star A and TK normally have 2-2-2 seating in Business on the very long hauls. BR soft products are much better and cheaper than other Star G as a package. SQ doesn’t fly to YYZ or YUL. |

I just did my random check TPE roundtrip on BR depart 4/22-m return 5/21, economy $278, premium economy $707, business $982. |
My flight was not originating in TPE but from YYZ and in PE standard. So the bid was from TPE to BKK only. 191 usd but again it was full and I am a G with them so it could have been a double win for them as I bid but they may have upgraded me anyway.
The beauty of BR to me is their PE. Certainly from YYZ as I could pay a reasonable fare and either bid for an upgrade or sit in fairly comfortable PE and get very good service. There is not much competition from YYZ to south east Asia that can compete with BR. Certainly not CX as their PE hard product is not as good as BR. None of the Middle East carriers have PE to south east Asia. |
Anyone has info on the upgrade bid price from BKK to AMS. Currently we are in PE and both are Star Gold. What are the loads like on this route.
