Seat Assignment
 

Booked on TPE - CGK on Eva air. Its a united ticket starting in SFO. I'm a 1K with United so Star Gold, went in to select a seat on the EVA website and all seats are unselectable. Is this normal?

I have not done this for a few months and I have only booked Y award seats through UA. Usually you can pick the seat on the UA side. I also have managed to pick seats on the EVA side with no problem. They block out a lot of seats in the front of the Y cabin for airport assignment and their own elites.

Maybe something has changed?

I figured it out I am booked in fare class W. Same fare class I am in for the united flights but interestingly the W fare class codes to a basic economy ticket for EVA airlines as such it’s not letting me pick a seat.

Usually with EVA basic economy tickets, you can pay for seat assignment, or you can wait until online check-in, and change your assigned seat to a better one if available, for free.

Upcoming trip BKK->TPE->ORD. Booked as a TG ticket (217). Thai flight connecting to EVA flight, but the EVA flight is showing as a TG codeshare (TG6272).

Manage trip function on EVA website says seat assignment and meal ordering is not available on codeshare. Any work around? Or if I call their contact center?

For anyone following in future, calling their contact center was able to secure a seat assignment. But apparently not able to pre-select any meals.
