Award Travel with EVA Air - Booked through AC

HI
I have some award travel booked through AC for travel from PVG to MNL, connecting in TPE.
Arrival into PVG will be 7 hours before my booked flight, but there is one that leaves 2 hours earlier. So my suspicion is that the Check In desks will be open for the earlier flight.
With a reward seat, how easy would it be to move to the earlier flight ? There is space according to another seat checking website.
Would rather spend more time in the airport in TPE than PVG.
Anyone have any experience with this ?
Thanks

They might put you on standby but ultimately it will be up to the desk agent's discretion. Most likely they will refer you back to your original booking source though. Seems like a lot of stress but if you're getting there early anyway it doesn't hurt to try.

Update : I did arrive in time for the earlier flight, and tried to check into my flight, the checkin agents refused, and made me wait for an hour until the later flight to TPE was open for bag drop. Moving was not an option.

Not too surprising. The ticket was issued by AC even though on BR metal and Eva will be reluctant to touch it unless things go wrong at the airport. That said, always worth asking as once the flight goes to airport control around T-24h then they can manage things.

still wont work even at T-24h. i tried something similar on a different airline, you have to go back to whomever issued the ticket. :'(
