No J Saver Fares Available
I was pricing some flights SEA-DPS-SEA for next summer and noticed that there are no J saver fares available for every date that I've searched going all the way back into March. Will these be added later, or is EVA not offering J saver fares anymore?

In my experience, and if there are some options available, on certain flights no saver fares were available, but on other flights earlier or later that day they were. Of course that does not work when you are constructing a multistopp itinerary and there is only one flight per day on SEA-TPE and there is no availability of Saver Fares.

Based on further research, this seems to be an issue for SEA flights only. I can find J Basic fares for flights to DPS originating in LAX, YVR, various European cities, and TPE. It's very odd that there's none at all for any dates that I search for SEA. I may try calling next week to see if an agent knows why.

You're looking for fares in October 2023, correct? If so, I'm not surprised that you're not finding any J Basic fares. Generally they sell out 6-8 months in advance. All the searches that I was doing are for next August.

The same lack of availability also makes changing travel dates nearly impossible.
Over the years, I always had mixed feelings about forking over another $150 or whatever for a minor date tweak after having paid thousands of dollars for a J ticket -- but at least changes were generally possible. Now? Almost never. I think it's at least partially because SEA is now served with a smaller plane than before (787 vs. 777).
EVA needs some direct competition on SEA-TPE (remember when CI used to service this route?). Let's see if Starlux ever comes to SEA.

I did have to fly AC to BKK before EVA opened after the pandemic but it used to get delayed out of YYZ and then I miss my connection out of ICN to BKK. On the return the layover is around 12 hours or so in ICN. I wish someone else would start flying out of YYZ or YUL to BKK via a good one stop connection and have good PE too.

EVA no longer has PE on the SEA route, and business class has become more expensive than in the past. It’s often $2k more for a round trip than what I can find on JL (obviously YMMV).

They do depending on where you fly from? Maybe not in every point in USA but certainly from YYZ they have PE as they still fly the 777.

My post was about fares from Seattle. And good news on that front. J Basic fares are now available again for flights to/from SEA. Not sure why they disappeared for a few weeks, but very glad to see them back again.
