A330 Hello Kitty Livery lease ending in 2023

Based on EVA Air Annual Report B-16631, B-16632 and B-16333 are leased from CIT Aerospace and their lease is expiring 2023-10, 2023-11 and 2023-12 respectively. They were first entered into service in 2011 so its been 12 years.

B-16333 currently serve Sapporo route and B-16332 serve Denpasar route. B-16331 is not currently active.

They all feature the old Premium Laurel class in 2-2-2 configuration, so hard to say that anyone will miss the J cabin!

Hoping that these planes will be replaced by B787 cabin!

In Page 165, but no information on B-16722. The other Hello Kitty Jet B-16207's contract also going to end in Nov 2023.

Yeah, I have been keeping track of DPS-TPE route and it does seem that newer A330s do replace rhe old Hello Kitty livery on the odd days. I wonder if there will swap them out completely come December. Time will tell!

This week I flew from DPS to TPE on a Hello Kitty flight. The online pre-order offered virtually no Hello Kitty items. On board, the usual brut ros champagne on Hello Kitty flights has been replaced by an almost undrinkable regular champagne. The only Hello Kitty item offered on board was a deck of Hello Kitty cards. I still remember during pre-Covid flights, the flight attendants would give me a big bag of Hello Kitty items.

So sad. I may cancel my February 2024 flight because it's almost not worth it to fly EVA. On the other hand, service was impeccable, as usual.

A few months ago, EVA's IG announced a sale of the Hello Kitty carts they used on the planes. So you know the days are numbered... Supposedly it cost a lot of money and I guess it is just not worth it for them anymore. They might also be able to use that Hello Kitty area at TPE T2 for something else...

Another interesting thing is that Kitty service items seem to be popping up on some routes (e.g. pillows, etc.) even though the plane itself is not a Kitty Jet and the route is not a Kitty route.

EVA Air basically is trying to use up its supplies of Hello Kitty branded amenities too.
Random flights to Japan have been featuring those Hello Kitty themed slippers too.
They possibly want to clear stocks before the end of 2023!

Great: I have a TPE-NRT A330 flight next week and then a return flight to TPE same.
I will be looking them up. Will ask around at TPE airport if they know anything.

I lucked on a Bad Badtz Maru.A330 on the NRT-TPE return flight
We parked on remote stand right next to the number two Bad Badtz Maru.A330 at TPE.

Nice flight. Only the pillow covers were themed. Not anything else.
I was offered a kids activities flight pack by a flight attendant. It's quite cute. A keeper.

I did not see any Hello Kitty jets.

  • Notice of Change of Special Livery Jets. 2023-11-20
  • Due to maintenance and fleet schedule planning of our Hello Kitty Jets, the usual designated Hello Kitty flights to specific destinations, as well as in-flight Kitty-themed services, will be temporarily adjusted with immediate effect until further notice.
https://www.evakitty.com/en/news/news.html

Seems like the Hello Kitty Jets are coming to an end....
