EVA Air 777-300ER Best Econony Premium Seat
Hello, this is my first time on a 16 hour flight (24 hour total) and first time in economy premium. I was wondering what seat would you all pick in the EP section? Currently I am in 20G. I am going to have to try to sleep. I never flew this airline and its hard to tell with the pictures online how the room is b/w the seats.
1. 20G - I picked this because no one is in front of me and I can probably stretch out more? But it looks difficult to sleep here?
2. Any window seat - Is it easier to sleep here? I am concerned about being able to get in and out because I will likely get up and move around a lot. But I need to try to get at least 1-2 hours of sleep.
3. Last row - I plan to recline at the max rate the entire fight, would it be better to sit here? I notice the restrooms but no one will be behind me. Will the recline bother the passengers behind me?
The seats are 2x4x2 (A/C, D/E/F/G, H/K) Row 20-26. Any advice from EVA airline flyers would be appreciated.

Here's my take: Keep the seat you have (20G) unless you can somehow get 20A or 20K along the windows. Leaning against the bulkhead can help when sleeping, and during daytime you get a view. There is extra legroom in row 20 and not having anyone reclined in front of you is a big plus. I had passengers in front of me who reclined during the entire trans Pacific legs, including during meals. Even with EVA's supposed 38" pitch getting in and out of the seats wasn't easy and the person on the aisle often has to get up to let the person in the middle or in the window seat get up. In the front row the person in 20F should be able to get up without you needing to move. As a plus you get served your meal earlier than the rest of the cabin unless you pre-select a meal Those who pre-select get served first.
How tall are you? I'm 196cm/6'5" so the recline of those in front of me bothers me more than most. I also barely recline my seat. Just be considerate of the people behind you. Keep the seat upright during meals and the after meal bathroom rush. After that, recline and try to sleep.
Which route are you taking? The 777's from LAX to TPE have (or had) leg rests while SFO-TPE have only footrests.

Thanks for your expert opinion. I didn't think about the recline and trying to get out of the window seat. Im shorter, and the flight is out of IAH. It's actually a 17 hour flight (16hr50min) I guess I should try to get upgraded to business but it looks like there is no way to even try since I booked through an agent. Eva air's website doesnt even give me a chance to check the one way/one leg price upgrade like United does. I guess my only option is to try at the airport.

I thought you were in 20G, which is middle on the right aisle? I wish I had been in 20K on my way back to SFO (I was in 22H) 20K was vacant on my return trip. Looks like BR51 uses the lower density configuration, so you may get the leg rests. If you are shorter that will work in your favor.
The recline in PE is good, but I don't use it. Just how I sleep. Flat or upright. Makes it tough when the people in front of me recline all the way. Goes with my height.
If you can swing business class, go for it. The food and experience will be better. The SFO-TPE leg with ground delays and a very heavy headwind was over 14 hours. The idea of 17 hours is daunting.

Yes you can pay the upgrade at TPE for just the sector. As the other OP said it depends on the configuration. I have flown on the 777 that had the leg rest and also did not have it. If it does not have it for me it is more difficult to sit on the bulk head row. So I normally sit in the last row but in an aisle seat. If you look at the seat map you can find out in the row of 4 seats if there are 2 seats taken on on side and then I leave the other seat and take the aisle. So it does not disturb me if they want to get out and I can get out whenever I want to get out.

BTW I paid to pick my seats via EVA for $175 total the entire route where as paying the higher price of EcoPrem was $300 more.

Thanks, I spoke to Eva and they told me to go to my agent and my agent (Chase Travel) told me to go to EVA. (About seat upgrades) Chase didn't seem to know what they were doing and basically told me they would have to rebook the first flight under business class which is not what I wanted. I booked Economy Premimum Basic because it only looked like free seat selection was not included so I wonder if this is what gave me the P class? Or is it also because I booked with Chase and not EVA directly? Should I book with EVA directly next time?

The Premium Basic does not give you the options to upgrade as per what I know. The PE standard is the minimum you need unless you pay a huge fare difference. `I always book directly with the airline now. I also found that it is less hassle if you have any problems with your flight. PE does not allow free seat selection unless you have Diamond, Gold or Silver Status with EVA. If you have then it is free or else it becomes free 48 hours before your flight departure. Normally in my experience they have been very accommodating when you call them. Most of the time, in PE certainly they help you with seat allocation on the phone. My advice is don't buy the Premium Basic but buy the Premium Standard next time if you want to fly with EVA on PE. Bear in mind that unless you have Star Alliance G, (then you have to board last on EVA if you fly Premium E).

P is the basic. I choose either T or L or K if none of these are available. Basic does not give the option of upgrading with points. Not much difference between Basic and T or L in actual fare and is worth to pay that few dollars.

Does Premium Economy row 20 on the 77M (38/64/221) have leg rests that extend from the seat? I see photos of seats w/ and w/o leg rests on the internet, and couldnt figure out whether or not my flight will have a plane w/ leg rests in row 20.

Sorry to hijack this thread. Im also in 20G but I prefer to be in 20H which seems to be blocked I guess because its a bassinet seat? Can I request it at time of check in or at the airport? Do I have to pay again?
I am bringing a litle stool as my back up leg rest because I am in an ankle / leg cast due to an injury so the first row is important. I am flying LHR-BKK.

PE standard and up fares include seat selection regardless of status.
