777-300ER Business Class Refresh Schedule?

Anyone know when is EVA planning to update the reverse herringbone J seats in 777-300ER to the new 787 Dreamliner style? Or is it going to be a slow fade when they get rid of the 777-300ERs?

I don't think EVA Air is replacing the business class cabin on its Boeing 777-300ERs. It will start retiring the older 777-300ERs in 2024 when they receive more 787-9s and adding premium economy cabin to current 787-9s.

It sounds like EVA Air is a bit cautious with capacity, especially with Starlux now in the market. They have yet to announce on the replacement plan for their 77Ws. I presume that they are monitoring the 777-9 situation and trying to buy new A350-1000s is not that easy, as there might not any new slots available soon. I presume that they will introduce a new business class product only when they get a new fleet of long haul aircrafts. The reconfigured and new batch of 787-9s will feature new premium economy seats, but I presume business and economy seats will remain the same.

Yeah, currently there is no news on their intention to upgrade. I think their products for the moment is still competitive to say CX and even SQ.

Is it the even numbers in business class on the 787s that has the sort of the side cover on the aisle side so better privacy? I have flown almost always on the 777 and not the 787. Only once I have flown and now cannot remember but I noticed it when I flew in June on an Intra Asia flight.

I wouldn't call the 787 J a step up, so it would be strange for them to retrofit those on the 77W.

Nope. If you're asking about window seats with good privacy...
787-9: 2A, 2K, 5A, 5K, 7A, 7K
787-10: 2A, 2K, 5A, 5K, 7A, 7K, 9A, 9K

As a Diamond, do you get upgraded if seats are available as some airlines do?

No, only if your original cabin is overbooked.

Thats not good I think. Some airlines gives free upgrades to top tier members if seats are available. Yes I have been upgraded a few times from PE to Business but always when PE is full or when Y is full. Apart from the separate lounge and thats it? Don't you get some upgrade certificates every year?

As in economy to business upgrades? EVA only does operational upgrades from what I understand.

Yes, we get four upgrade certificates per 140k miles of EVA flights.

And a bit of bonus on miles earned. Theyll also send a gift each year, which is often just a box of chocolates. There are also duty free gift certificates each year.

for the op-ups, CD do get priority over staff, who get priority over CG.

Now that Im typing this out, I wonder why I bother.

I have done a couple of flights just to keep the status in G but D is way too much for me.
