Premium Economy Basic vs Standard

I'm looking to book a one way PE ticket from ORD to SNG on EVA using their website. For me, extra mileage and the ability to upgrade aren't meaningful. Therefore, with both the Basic and the Standard offerings having the same baggage requirements, it seems to me that the only difference is that the Standard offering gives me complimentary seat selection and the Basic offering doesn't until 48 hours before departure. Since the price difference between these two offerings is $276, it seems that it's cheaper for me to just purchase the Basic offering and pay the extra $50 for seat selection (which I want) than to purchase the Standard. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my plan?

BR does not fly to Bolivia. Perhaps you mean SIN?

If the only other difference is selected seating, I’d go with the lowest all in pricing.

There is also a difference in the change and refund fee.

I would just buy the Basic PE too. Save the $50 and book seat at 48 hours. Keep checking the seat map, plane may not be full on your dates. :)

Is it possible to see a map of available seats on the EVA website prior to making a purchase?

Yes. After entering your passenger information, but before you pay, you can access the seat map. :)

Is the fee still US$50 for seat selection for PE standard fares (SFO-TPE)? What about for the connecting TPE-HKG segment in Y.

Edit to add: I found out that the fee is now US$60 for the long haul segment. The short haul segment is either $20 or free.
