TPE layover 50mins

I will be arriving from JFK to TPE (BR 31) at 5:40am then my connecting flight to KIX (BR 178) at 6:30am. I am worried that 50mins layover is too short as I will be in econmy seat (last group to exit the plane) and I am travelling with kid. Boyh flight will be at terminal 2. Do you think I can make it to the next flight? Anyone who had short layover in TPE before? Thanks!

If the flight arrives on time and is the only widebody within a 20 minute window, it'll be an easy transit - possibly the best kind where you just keep walking from one plane seat to the next. My SEA-TPE flight last month was delayed by around an hour and arrived shortly after another 777. I was in C coming in so was among the first few out the door and my normal walking pace is much faster than most so I was well ahead of the crowd from my flight. I suspect there was a third widebody judging by the number of people in the transit screening area. Transit security screening lines looked like Universal Studios first week of summer holidays. It moved pretty quickly but the sheer volume resulted almost 20 minutes of queuing.

Pay attention to the ground staff with signs and flight numbers. BR is really good about tracking and handling pax with tight connections and will escort pax to the front of transit screening if you're getting close to doors closing. They've also been really good with moving checked luggage. My worst case was about 20m between door open and connecting flight scheduled departure. Ran all the way, last pax to board, still got pre-departure beverage and my checked bags made it too.

I think you'll be fine. Generally EVA pads their schedule a little bit so the few times that I have flown BR 31 it has actually arrived 25-40 minutes early.
