One would think there is demand in WAS - many Asian carriers serve IAD. I will also help somewhat the fact that BR is not at EWR. They should really see if they can do a east coast gateway that can do same-day connections now that JFK's day service is gone.

I wonder how much feed UA provides to BR given how difficult it is to book UA+BR tickets. UA wants to send people TPAC on UA and NH metal. If BR cared about UA feed, they would be flying EWR instead of JFK. The connections at IAH/ORD/JFK/YYZ are also timed for onward connections at TPE, rather than from the US hubs. I suspect BR is mainly interested in attracting Star Alliance members in UA hubs for O&D to TPE and onward to SE Asia, rather than actual UA feed.

Looking at IAD and BOS, current TPAC operators include:
IAD:
UA: 7x to NRT (777)
NH: 7x to NRT (777)
UA: 7x to PEK (777/787)
CA: 7x to PEK (777)
CX: 4x to HKG (A350)
KE: 7x to ICN (777)

BOS:
JL: 7x to NRT (787)
CX: 7x to HKG (777)
HU: 7x to PEK (787)
HU: 4x to PVG (787)
KE: 5x to ICN (787, next summer)

BOS, in particular, didn't have any TPAC service until 2012 and in 2019 will average >1000 seats a day to east Asian cities at loads between 85-90%. This is what the 787 was built for.

I agree. It is very difficult (and expensive) to book UA+BR tickets. Usually one is forced to make two separate booking and take your chances.

When EVA stops Premium Economy (Elite) with 787 service to Seattle. I'll have to jump to Singapore Airline's newly announced Seattle routes. EVA's Elite class is the only reason I started flying EVA 15 years ago (SFO).

It's just speculative based on what marketing they've been using. The Space needle was all over the introduction ceremony for the 787, and when the executives "lit up" a map that the 787 will expand to in the world, Seattle was the only North America point. Everything else was KUL, HKG, NRT, KIX etc., all rumored or confirmed 787 destinations.

As stated before B-16703 is going off lease at the end of 2019. Anybody know if EVA have any plans to paint B-16705-9 and B-16718-23 into their new colour scheme?

They are only painting them when they undergo heavy checks(3C or D) or are able to accommodate a repaint during the aircraft’s C-check. B-16705-9 were actually repainted in the old livery minus the Chinese words just prior to the introduction of the new livery. B-16718-23 will have their time in the coming years. They’ve actually repainted the tail fin of B-16722 already.

SEA flights increasing to 10 flights a week starting July 2019. Flight BR4 will depart at 19:50 TPE time and land in SEA at 16:15 while flight BR3 will depart SEA at 01:40 and arrive in TPE at 04:40.

BR EVP Liao discusses BR’s future plans with CAPA. He reports that BR has no plans for Oceania expansion, and instead will continue to focus on high yield pax throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. The airline will also continue to push NA to SEA connections and there efforts have paid off, as evidenced by their 8% connection market growth in the first half of ‘18.

Will this mark the first time BR has used the number 4 in its flight number?

Yes. Rather strange but who knows. The previous daytime flight was BR23/24, surprised they didn’t use that.

BR4 seems like a winner for my personal preferences. As it is now I leave Bangkok at 15:10 or 16:25 to catch the current 23:40 departure. It would be nice to get into Seattle a little earlier and leaving for the airport in Bangkok at 10am is not a challenge.

It will be interesting to see what happens when CX arrives in Seattle. It will be real competition for BR. From what I saw CX plans 1am-ish departure from Seattle, offers a premium economy product, and offers similar seating arrangement in that class and in J as BR. Plus vastly better lounge and food than on BR. A phantom late spring 2019 booking on the CX SEA-BKK in J shows similar pricing to BR too (~US$4900).

Besides CX, it seems SQ and JL are also starting SEA service in 2019. Perhaps this second daily is to fend off the new kids on the block. BR has been in SEA since 1992 (?).

1993 - 6/6/1993 TPE-SEA-EWR, I think. LAX was 12/12/1992. They used to pick those dates that were interesting so I remember them.
