Places like SIN, PEK, PVG, BKK etc. will most likely continue to hold PE cabin aircraft. The PE cabins for those routes are extremely profitable(hence the reason why BR maintains PE service) and has a massive transfer market through the PE cabin.

I guess that is another reason to have some 78Js with PE....

PE used to be a differentiator (since BR was one of the very few who had PE) but now with more and more airlines getting them, it seems it is necessary to have them on all longer routes.

It seems their strategy is to run the 777 on the routes that require PE in Asia. PEK, PVG, and SIN all have super high premium demand so the need for a bigger RL cabin is of no surprise.

Once the 78X come on, we could see PE on those routes be abolished in favor of streamlining the fleet. Otherwise, they will have to split it up like they do with the 777s. However, based on their current training and information, they have zero plans to put PE onto 787 aircraft.

According to staff, EVA Air recently sent out a corporate planning team to Boston, D.C., Honolulu, and DFW. BR has made it clear that these next few years will be time for them to slow down North America ops growth, adjust current destinations accordingly, and then they will continue their growth if deemed profitable.

Unless they get Mainland transit, I see them facing bigger competition from Mainland and SE Asian carriers and it would be hard to maintain load and yield with the huge capacity for North America. However, I can see some destination and schedule adjustments.

Boeing and EVA Air had a small ceremony at a local CHS hotel today, attended by Taiwanese media, local media, distinguished guests(including TECO), Boeing Commercial CEO Kevin McAllister, ALC Chairman Steven Udvar-Hazy, and EVA Air Chairman Steve Lin.

EVA Air gave media a tour of the 789 today, though they will not accompany the aircraft back to TPE due to CAA rules(non-certified aircraft cannot carry passengers unless they are directly employed by the airline).

L1/R1 Area- There is a full pilots crew rest installed on this aircraft.
J-The seat looks awfully thin. There will be 3 restrooms available(2 in the front of the cabin and one by the cockpit door). The aircraft has cappuccino and espresso making capabilities. J continues to feature the stars in the ceiling. No seat has no window, BR’s seat placement has allowed it to have seat shells where there is no window.
L2 Area-Features a full galley with two restrooms that have diaper changing tables and the one next to R2 is a disabled-pax accessible one.
Y- Seats are ”slimline” and feature 31-32” pitch. The media said they feel harder than before. In the last row, it becomes a 2-3-2 config. The pair of seats on the right have extra legroom because they are additional crew rest seats on longhauls(a curtain around them is installed). There are a total of 6 bathroom for the Y pax. 4 at doors L/R3 and two in the back. The galley is an open layout style and not the single aisle layout some carriers have opted to go with. There is a cabin crew rest area in the back but it does not have enough space for all the FA’s. For those seated in the middle of the last 2 row, expect noise and lack of storage as the area across from you is a closet space and the crew rest take away the overheads.

It is kind of interesting when the whole Mainland transit thing stalled and now with the bad relationship, people were worried about the continued expansion of BR and CI. Looks like BR is still at it.
I don't think BR has a choice with so many planes bought. The retired so many planes to minimize the fleet growth.

Interesting they had the other BR plane in the background next to the Dreamlifter which was retrofitted by EGAT from a 747....

Would love to see BR in HNL. I think it would be a great HK destination too.
