Air NZ+EVA Air lease extended till July 2019. Changes may continue to be made. If not, the aircraft should return to BR in August/Sept. Air NZ changed the seat letters and repainted the reg. under the wing, on the nose gear doors, and on the front of the plane in addition to adding some Air NZ titles on the doors.

EVA Air will resume operations at KIX on Sept. 14th(subject to change). Between Sept. 14-30, BR180/179 will be cancelled due to fluctuations in demand.

Yeah, but it’s a shame they didn’t make the cubbies near the footwell enclosed. Their insistence on putting everything loose away during take off and landing can be a little too much.

What a lovely J cabin! Is this the new longhaul J or a "regional J" seat like SQ has on its 787-10s? Frankly it looks suitable for longhaul.

This is just the Thompson Vantage (e.g., NH J), right? [EDIT: Sorry, NH actually uses Zodiac Skylounge Core.]

This should be a vantage XL. Its width is 23 inches, whereas NH J only has width 20inches. Very excited for the new 787!

First delivery will be October 2nd, 2018! Aircraft has 304 seats in a 2-cabin layout, there is no PE onboard. Aircraft was designed by dreamworks(subsidiary of BMW).

Hoping to see this bird make the TPE - SFO/LAX runs, as I *THINK* it's possible right?

789 can easily make it to SFO or LAX...HOWEVER, SFO is not a candidate for the 789 as it is lacking PE(huge Businessmen thing) and is also short of J seats(heavy J destination). They advertise the new RL as a seat that allows "great comfort on longhaul flights" so I would expect to see Europe and Oceania on this aircraft's list.

The Y seats look similar to the Y seats on Qatar, both were designed by Boeing's Teague. With the intro of the 789, we may see some new cutlery, new service concept, and new glassware/china onboard. BR recently entered into an agreement with an Austrian-based shop that specializes in airline china but what they are having them create is unknown at this time.

Once delivered, the aircraft will be tested and certified for 1 month by the newly trained FA's and the pilots. Included in the schedule is an actual evacuation of the aircraft in the new EGAT hangar. BR will wait for the 2nd aircraft to come before they start services other than HK. The first of 4 GEnx engines that they ordered have arrived and is already stored.

Yeah it was mentioned that if would initially make intra-asia runs, but i'm really hoping it comes to the US West Coast - IE Seattle, LAX, SFO, or they retrofit some of the 77ws (which is a long shot since the seats are still in great condition and nice)

Seems like an odd decision to forgo PE but remember that BR is going to deploy 787-9 and 787-10 primarily as a replacement for its A332 and A333 fleet and those planes do not have PE either.

Configurations:

A332: 24J + 228Y = 252
787-9: 26J + 278Y = 304
A333: 30J + 279Y = 309
787-10: ??? I'm guessing is will be something like 32J + 310Y (SQ has 36J + 301Y on its 787-10)

BR also released Q2 results. Airline recorded a growth of 5% in profit and a record revenue. Looks like their hedging really helped to save them in terms of cost; airline recorded a hedging gain of around 3 million NT dollars. Unions are happy and are expecting a fat 13th month payout.
