EVA Air Upgrade Availability
 

I am still deciding if I will do full redemption on Biz class or purchase Elite class ticket and upgrade it to biz class.

Upgrade cost me 1/2 miles (80K vs 40K) and here is the summary:
Redeem biz class : 80K miles + USD 60, no status miles
Upgrade from PE: 40K miles + USD 875, 9,600 status miles.


I do not mind to pay for the ticket. I can see the C class redemption is available on the date that I want. I just call BR SIN office, and I was told there is no way they can check the inventory for the upgrade without ticket number.

She also said the inventory for C redemption is not the same for PE upgrade to biz.


So my question, should I take the "gamble" to purchase the ticket and try to do the upgrade?


Currently I have no miles with BR. I have to transfer it from Citibank. 40K miles is already on the way to BR.

Is there really no way to check the inventory for the upgrade upfront?

Anyway to check how many seat left in C? I tried to do dummy booking on BR, but it seems it won't allow me to select seat without paying for it.

You can always check expert flyer for availability. At the end of the day, it depends on when you are flying and your routing for which one you want to choose. Upgrades are in the "Z" class, different from award tickets for biz.

I just saw the remark on the web that P class that I wanted to book is not eligible for upgrade. It has been confirmed by the Singapore staff also.

I guess, I need to just redeem C class.

Yea. the new P class fare's only difference is the restriction on upgrades.
