Im booked as 3A for upcoming flights in January. I regularly check to ensure the seat assignment hasnt changed (its happened before) and noticed that 1A has become available and is selectable on both my flights. I was able to select it on my SIN-TPE leg which is relatively short and not overnight, so dont care about noise from the galley. Is it really such a great seat that its reserved for elites/VIPs (Im neither). For the TPE-YYZ, I want to sleep, so prefer a quiet seat, if possible. I can select 1A as well, or should I stick to 3A.

Thanks for the advice. Another thing I have to consider is the light from the galley each time somewhat walks over to use the lavatory. I think I’ll stick with 3A.

Cons: close to lavatories (people my be queuing while waiting, smells, noise), close to galley, very back of plane so you may not have your preferred meal choice, last to exit.

Pros: One of the few 2 seat rows in economy, so just need to bother one person instead of 2 to exit.

I'm still gunning for window seat. How much legroom I can move out so as to not disturb the passenger next to me?
Btw, I'm planning to go next October. Is it less passengers around that time?

Each time I’ve flown with EVA, it has been in Royal Laurel class so can’t comment on your additional questions. My comments were based on regular economy service on most airlines and having looked at the seat map from seat guru.
Unless you get an exit row, they will never be enough room to move out of your seat without disturbing your follow passengers (unless you get lucky and get an empty seat next to you). If you like to get out of your seat often, it’s best to book an aisle seat. If you want to sleep and not be disturbed, book a window.

I haven't been in Y for almost 20 years so I cannot comment on the service flow back there nowadays. It used to be front-to-back but that may have changed. For October, Y loads for North American flights are extremely low as there is no holiday and it is a slightly awkward month with the beginning of school/end of the summer travel rush. However, loads in Europe-bound Y are super high, so high they will swap the 77B onto European routes and send the 77M to North American destinations such as SFO.

J Class Boarding - Mini Cabin Seating
Hi All,
My wife and I are taking BR27 in J and right now in seats 5D & 5J in the first cabin. We normally like to be in the smaller, private cabin if available, but was wary of being in the second mini-cabin due to boarding of the entire plane. Does anyone know if all economy passengers pass through the second mini-business cabin during boarding and if it is chaotic?
Thanks!

Recommendation on J seats for couples on 777 from TPE to YVR?
Debating between window + middle or middle + middle.
I understand there is a barrier in the middle for we opted for the center two seats. Will we be able to talk and make eye contact?

You will need to lean forward quite a bit to talk in the center seats.

Mini cabin rows 8-11 RL do FA's control the curtain separating it from Elite?
My husband and I are currently booked in 3D/3G on a 777-300ER but the larger RL cabin is almost full. It doesn't appear that there's anyone seated in the smaller cabin at this time. I'm not worried about commotion during boarding but being an overnight flight SFO - TPE I'm concerned about traffic from the Elite cabin up to the lavatories. Do the FA's tightly control the curtain separating Elite from Royal Laurel? Is there much foot traffic in this cabin? It looks ideal and much more private but not at the expense of dozens of Elite passengers passing through to reach the lav's. Thanks in advance!

Does EVA do gate upgrades to Royal Laurel? and is it worth it? We are booked T class BR009 PE 22H/K, YVR - TPE and then TPE- DPS in Royal Laurel on A330 7H/K. I messed up booking the proper fare to be able to upgrade with star alliance on 1st leg but was able to on 2nd. I see 9 & 11 D/G are still open. 4.5 days away. Will be our 1st long haul flight so not sure what to expect.

On point upgrades, there are ticketing rules that are still in effect. SAUA must be completed 24 hours prior to departure. Therefore, it would not apply in your situation so gate upgrade is not available.
