Only for the emergency exit rows in Economy. PE can be selected free of charge.

Been a really long time since I flew in regular economy on any of BR's 777s but I don't recall it being different space-wise, just the usual bumpier ride as you get farther back in the aircraft. IIRC, it might also be quieter as you're not right by the butt of those big GE90s.

Thanks crunchie! I think I will pick the second section.

Seatguru says SFO-TPE-SFO BR7/8 is 9-across in Economy in November but this thread seems to say it is 10 across.

Can someone who has flown this sector recently chime in? I'm trying to decide between United and EVA for an upcoming trip.

Thanks.

They have been switching aircraft all over the place to properly adjust to demand. Seatguru is not the most accurate; check expertflyer or call BR.

For the last two weeks, BR7 has literally alternated between 9 and 10-across every day. A very quick perusal of the last 3 months appears to show 9-across operated this route marginally more often than 10-across, but very close to 50/50.

Has anybody had any luck calling ahead of time to see if they will be kind enough to release seats in row 1 or 2, when you're not an EVA elite? I want to get window seats for myself and companion and want to get in the front cabin, only ones left are in the rear...

Wait till 72 hours prior to departure. They will not open them over the phone.

Does anyone know if the bulkhead seats in C have wider/bigger ottomans/footwells?

I’ve only travelled in non-bulkhead royal laurel seats before but row 1 has opened up now for an upcoming flight and I’m wondering if I should move up to row 1.

However, after carefully studying photos from the cabin, row 1 doesn’t look significantly bigger. I’m 6,5” with size 14 feet, so I appreciate roomier seats.

Seats 1DG and 8ADGK are shorter, the other seats are all the same to each other and over 200cm

Booking PE and Expert flyer shows almost half the cabin as "blocked", including the bulkhead. Will some of these likely show up as available at 24 hours prior to departure? 72 Hours?

Sorry if it's been posted, but I haven't seen it in the last few pages:

Thanks!

Bulkhead is opened by airport staff. CD/CG have priority after bassinet babies and then it’s open to the rest of the pax. Blocked 23AC/HK(blocked for CD/CG) will open up when OLCI opens(assuming they don’t give it to a CD/CG and their travel companions w/ no seating assignment). Rest of the blocked cabin should open up 72 hours(IIRC) before departure.

I’m booked as 3A for upcoming flights in January. I regularly check to ensure the seat assignment hasn’t changed (it’s happened before) and noticed that 1A has become available and is selectable on both my flights. I was able to select it on my SIN-TPE leg which is relatively short and not overnight, so don’t care about noise from the galley. Is it really such a great seat that it’s reserved for elites/VIPs (I’m neither). For the TPE-YYZ, I want to sleep, so prefer a quiet seat, if possible. I can select 1A as well, or should I stick to 3A.
