An update for my question.

Front J cabin is more private due to the staggered layout. Thank gosh I didn't have to book in the mini cabin

All of the other rows in Y are greyed out. Could Y really be this full 3 months in advance?

Are there other priority seats for elites besides rows 45 and 60? I'm *A Gold, but not from EVA, so I'm not sure that helps.
I think I solved part of my question. I looked at the complete seatmap through Expert Flyer and was able to see there are many rows that are blocked and other rows are marked "elite". There are lots of non-assigned seats.

I'll be flying EVA from JFK to TPE w my spouse in Dec. Other than the exit row seats, which Y class seats would be good?

Has anyone rode on a 77M? Did they just add wifi (and more economy seats) or did they also retrofit with the new ex3 AVOD?

I have flown on it. Added Wifi. I did not notice any improvements to the IFE.

Seems to be some incorrect information in post 1 about the 77A. It says there is power at every seat in Y. This is what EVA's website says:

In-seat 110V AC Outlet
With our in-seat power outlets that adapt to all kinds of electrical plugs, business travelers can work efficiently on their laptops throughout the flight. Seats with built-in 110V AC outlets are available in all our Royal Laurel Class, Premium Laurel Class and Elite Class, as well as in the Economy Class of A330-300 aircrafts.

Anybody know the truth? Is there power in Y?

Yes. 77A has power at every Y seat.

Sorry to quote myself, but any idea on the above? I would like to avoid the AVOD box in my foot area on the YYZ-TPE flight. Thank you in advance.

Sorry I don't know the answer to this but I just wanted to wish you a pleasant flight to TPE. ^

Thanks for the response. Disappointed to hear that the only change is Wifi. I may be a minority but I find the 77A cabin an improvement to the 77N, especially the AVOD. Unfortunately the 77A isn't offered on my flights so I guess I'm stuck with the 77N/M.

Definitely boxes under the window seats. I believe the box for the middle seats is under seat "D".

Well, I wish the Wifi were the only change for the 77N->77M conversion. They also squeezed in more seats in Y.

It is unrealistic to expect them to re-do the entire Y cabin when the 77Ns are still relatively new.

I agree that's it's unrealistic, I'm just jealous that they're not flying any of the 77A's on my routes and I don't fly RL so those changes matter a little more.

FYI it does look like EVA has started to refurbish the 77N planes with the new cabins and new IFE. My flight had the old 77N layout, at least in J and EY. I didn't get to see Y to see if there were 10 additional seats. The plane had wifi.
