I am flying from JFK > TPE next week and have an economy ticket. I have selected seats in Row 54. What's the best way to get it changed to exit row or something with better leg room? Also, if anyone can comment on meals they provide; I am vegetarian so if i know beforehand, i can bring some food with me. Thanks in advance.

Exit row is only available at check-in. They have vegetarian and other special meals but need to be preordered. Please check with your travel agent or contact Eva directly.

From looking at the 77A. I'm assuming the bold seats in economy (row 57, 69, 70, 71, 72) are probably 31" in seat pitch. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Airlineroute's facebook feed reported that EVA has introduced a 3rd 777 seating configuration call 77M

77N C38 W64 Y211 (original seating plan with RL flat bed)
77A C39 W56 Y238 (revised seating plan with RL flat bed, bigger Y, and WiFi)
77M C38 W64 Y221 (not sure if it is for new delivery or retrofit of 77N to add WiFi)

Compare 77M vs. 77N, there is an extra row of seats in Y so some of the seat pitch must be reduced (like 77A) so all the Y seats will be 33" pitch. At least they didn't go 3-4-3...

Ouch, looks like 2 extra seats in rows 69, 70 and 71 (total 6) + new row 72 with 7 seats (2+3+2 = 7 ) on the 77M compared to the 77N. However, that is an increase of 13 rather than 10. I can't figure out how I ended up with 3 extra seats...

Kitty Shining Star Jet will be used for TPE-SIN and TPE-IAH and that is a 77A. My guess is the 77M is a retrofit of the 77N, not a new type.

I noticed that too. I think the seat map for 77M must be wrong.

From the map, you can see that row 69, 70, 71 are now 9-across instead of of 7-across. That added 6 seats. And then there is a new row 72 with only seat A/B and J/K. That added 4 seats for a total of 10 new seats.

I think the map is showing 72 D/E/F is probably wrong. The middle rows were already pushed back a bit due to the mid Y cabin galley and I don't see how they could add another row without removing the rear center lavatory.

You can check on EVA online Timetable. Click on the EVA tail icon for the day you are interested in, it will open up a popup window showing the details of the flight. Click on (Fleet Facts) to show the aircraft version.

Currently the Timetables is showing 77N (4X/week) 744 (3X/week).

Anyone know definitively if the 77M is really a refurbished 77N (to include the extra seats and wifi) or is it a new build config?

All indication so far is it is basically 77N + 10 more Y seats + Wifi.

Thanks - IMHO - (in RL) a 77N + wifi = more desirable than a 77A

I agree. I think the first cabin in C and the C lavs feel better on the 77N. The AVOD is not as cool on the 77N but that is really not that important.

@username (OP)

can you add this link to the OP? It shows the 77A routes (with Wi-Fi)
http://sky-wifi.evaair.com/#flight

Looks like only these routes for now
TPE-LAX BR 11/12
TPE-JFK BR 31/32 (starting July 3 all flights will be 77A)

I'd choose YYZ-JFK-TPE instead of YYZ-TPE just because of wi-fi in Y on Aeroplan though @@
