Amsterdam to Brussels

I have a whole summer day to get from Amsterdam to Brussels. Is there a way to take local transport where I can stop over multiple times in between, that is comparable in cost to EUR 29 (the price of an advance ticket on the direct Thalys service)?

I guess I could also end the day in Antwerp as I don't need to be in Brussels until the next afternoon

For €31,40 you can get a "high flex" ticket from Amsterdam to Antwerp, valid on any train. Would let you stop off at somewhere like Delft or the Hague, or the other way and stop in Utrecht, then Rotterdam, then Roosendaal (if you wanted to), then Antwerp. If you were going on a weekend, you might be able to find a cheaper ticket
