Budapest to Vienna Ticket Refund Questions
For anyone following my other threads, we're having a wonderful trip and enjoying ourselves. Prague was great and Budapest is just as good a visit so far.
We are scheduled to travel to Vienna by train on Tuesday 15 September. OGG has suspended service across the border making it virtually impossible to travel from Budapest to Vienna easily by train so we have booked alternative transportation via a car service I purchased tickets online at the MAV-START web site. I have a Reference Number which entitles me to collect the tickets from an e-ticket machine which I was going to do when we arrived at Keleti to catch the train so I do not have the tickets yet. MAV has posted a refund process on their web site which appears to require that a refund form be filed in person. I have no need to take the time to go to Keleti just for this purpose. IMO, since I purchased the tickets online, I should be able to get a refund online, especially once the specific train has been cancelled. I know that EU processes are different from the US and would appreciate any advice and or guidance about my EU rights and the best way to go about obtaining a refund. |
