My experience has been LAX-AMS-somewhere else in Europe...60 minutes or less and your checked bags won't make it. 61 mintues or more = no problem. I've done this trip at least 20 times and this rule has never failed.

I wish that worked all the time in AMS last time I had 3 hours then a 2 hour atc delay and still no bags.

As you can see, passport control will be the question mark.
I travel thru AMS 9-10 times per year, and the lines at passport control
have been different every time. There was no consistency even when I
had the same itinerary. But the good news is....
even when there was long lines and many people at passport control,
I got thru in less than 30 minutes.
The rest is just a quick walk.

I highly recommend that if you need to go through passport control you do so right away. The same shops and services are on both sides of the airport and you can enjoy a slower walk once you have done due dillegence with the authorities.

The Schengen KLM lounge (25) got fixed up all nice before the international lounges (41,52) also, and has a lot of RJ45 jacks for travelers who've brought their laptops and ethernet cables. :)
