Hotels at BCN ?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

nearest ones are Tryp and Renaissance, both in a dull business park 5 mins drive from the airport. i'd stay in town, somewhere fun, and just book an early transfer.

I agree

Barcelona is one of the few cities where I've had no compunctions about getting a taxi from the centre (typically around the Sants area) to the airport.

Little traffic early in the morning makes sure the trip is quick and cheap. (My own information is out of date now, but 6-7 years ago it was about 15 Euros)

Mind you, the BCN Airport Tryp does have some good offers on their website. Occasionally rooms are about 60Euros. That might sway me.

taxi from town to airport is max 30 euro. mind you i always round up as can't be bothered with euro coins.

What if you buy something that costs less than a Euro. Do you just give the salesclerk 5€ and say "keep the change"?

booking.com did a nice job of listing hotels with shuttle service, and their distances from the airport.

Priceline doesn't have an airport-specific zone on which to bid. Hotwire does, but looks a little steep to me.

Is that during the day when there's lots of traffic, or at 5am when the streets are empty?

Just checked the AENA webpage for BCN which quotes taxi prices to the centre as being up to 25Euros (or 18E from the Plaza España area) - night rate. So shouldn't go over 30.
