Connections in Budapest

I have a quick question regarding how easy it is to make connecting flights in Budapest. I have a Malev flight coming into Budapest from Toronto, followed by a connecting flight 40mins later. Is this at all possible (no passport controll or other slow downs) or should I expect to be put on a later flight?

On what airline is your connecting flight? And where is your final destination?

Budapest isn't a huge airport, but a 40 minute connection is really tight. I probably wouldn't risk it, and I'd book a later flight.

Note that if you are connecting on another carrier, the second airline doesn't have an obligation to reaccomodate you on a later flight should your Malev flight arrive late.

Both flights are with Malev, and they were purchased as a single fare from the Malev website. My final destination is Sarajevo, and there is only one flight there per day. I really don't mind if I have to spend a night in Budapest since it will give me a change to get over my jet lag, but I'm just curious if I even have a chance to make it or if I should tell the people I am meeting in Sarajevo that I will likely not be there until the next day.

40 minutes is tight anywhere in the world, but you've a better a chance in Budapest than at most airports. It's not a big terminal (my impression is a bit smaller than MDW), and Malev is all in one wing.

The airport seems to have a lot of runway capacity compared to its flight volume, which should also help.

40 minutes should be fine for your "short" connection.
