What is up in the EU this weekend?

Every single flight from the EU to Chicago seems to be booked solid, on every carrier.

The upcoming Easter holiday (which kicks off on Friday with Good Friday) means that a lot of countries in Europe have school holidays right now. Those holidays can consist of the week prior to Easter, the week after Easter, or for the lucky ones, both weeks.

School holidays = busy travel times.

I figured it had to be something like that. I can't seem to get my (b-basis) flights back to the US shifted from Sunday to Tomorrow, nor even get seat assignments for my booked flights. What a pain...

Easter/Spring/School holidays is what is mopping up capacity.

Also, many European countries have public holidays on Good Friday and/or Easter Monday, so many people are taking long weekend trips.

Maybe I should have specified "Continental Europe"?

So, all I need to do is get from Paris to Manchester, and scrap my return ticket? ;)

I suppose there are worse things in life than being "stuck" in Paris for 2 days.

By the way, Easter is NEXT weekend, not THIS weekend... (For those reading this in March, any way...)

Yes, but people that have Easter off (including the Monday after Easter) taking a few/several days off before the long weekend is not so unsual -- especially when "accrual" of 2-3 weeks of vacation is considered a joke in a number of those markets compared to what they are granted.

What's the matter with us Europeans? :p

I know. The message I responded to just seemd to imply that Easter was this weekend, and I wanted to disambiguate the thread. The week before the holiday is the 'normal' time to take extra vacation. (Which is why I normally take the week after the holiday - much lower crowd content. ;) )
