ZRH Min. Connection

Hello,
I am trying to build a connection in ZRH. Coming in from JNB and flying out to MAD. Can it be done in an hour? How big is ZRH? I'll be flying from Swiss to Swiss.

Thanks!

The best way to find out is to go to the airline's web site, or a generic travel booking site such as Expedia, enter JNB as your point of departure and MAD as your destination, and see if it comes up with the connection that you are thinking of taking. If it does it's within the MCT (Minimum Connecting Time), if it doesn't then it isn't.

Airport web sites are also tend to list MCTs, have you checked there?

I'm connecting from LO WAW-ZRH to UA ZRH-IAD and UA told me minimum connection time at ZHR is 40 minutes. I've got 55. Most folks on UA board say I'll be ok, but anything international under an hour scares me. We'll see.

IME Zurich is pretty straightforward to transit and I regularly take connections which are only 45-50mins. The airport web site also has some info on connections: http://www.zurich-airport.com/dokume...5x210_e_os.pdf

Try searching flights on swiss.com to find out what connections it brings up; if they offer it then it should be legal.

You won't have any problems. Zurich is a small and handsome airport. There should be no passport controlls, just move from one plane to another airside. Should be easy.

Swiss offered 20 minute connections at ZRH a few years ago; I think they have now upped it to 30 minutes. They are not alone, AY at HEL has lots of flights with MCT of 20 minutes (and their longest MCT is 45 minutes). ZRH is a very efficient airport and quite reliable for short connections.

Thanks everyone! That link above is very helpful. There isn't much on the Zurich airport website nor on Swiss, but I never thought of looking to see if they'd sell it to me. Thanks!
