Germany - When to buy
I have been waiting for a "deal" on airline tickets to go to Germany from Orlando for May, 2005. Last year, I was able to get them for $325 on Delta in coach for May, 2004.
Questions: 1. Any chance that the coach fares will go down? (they just seem to be going up) 2. If not, I am seriously considering business class, but hate to spend $2200 each for tickets. Any idea how to get a better deal? Thanks for your help! :) |
Depending on when in May you're thinking of going you may find that cheap fares won't be as easily available as they were last year. Last year virtually the entire month of May was off-peak because Ascension Day fell at the very end of May and Pentecost was in June. This year Ascension Day is on 6 May and the Pentecost public holiday is on 16 May which means that a lot of people will be travelling in the first three weeks of May.

I am in the same boat as you are, but leaving from ATL. The prices are awful right now. I am trying to leave May 20th. I am going to have to fork over 100,000 delta miles to fly economy if the price does not drop soon. I am getting nervous!

20 May is the very day when a LOT of Europeans will be flying home after the Pentecost break (leave Friday, arrive Saturday, recover Sunday, go to work Monday). Pentecost Monday is a holiday in a lot of European countries, and a lot of people will be taking the whole week off. I very much doubt that there will be any cheap deals available that week.
