2months accommodation in Zurich in Summer

Hello everybody (Gruezi to the Swiss),

I need to arrange a 2-months accommodation for a canadian manager who is doing a project work in Zurich in the months of July/August. He expects a high level of comfort ("nice and new, preferably roof top"), either in a furbished appartment or a hotel in or close to the city centre. Budget is about 2000-3000 Euro per month.

I can't really find anything suitable - would greatly appreciate any info.

Thanks,

v-r

Hello,

Try this address. If you don't find anything, I'll look for more.

Thanks for the link! Unfortunatly I did not find anything suitable - they're either out of town, old and seedy or terribly expensive (6000 Euro/month).

Any other ideas?

I frequently see ads of a company called Vision GmbH. They offer apartments with "hotel service" and it seems that they're doing short term rentals as well.

They have a web site at www.visiongmbh.ch, but it doesn't look very useful to me.

You might want to give them a call at +41 1 248 34 34 to find out more.

I've never dealt with them, so I don't know if they're any good though.

Thank your for the link! I've never heard about them either, but quality seems ok and prices pretty decent....

I've sent them an e-mail about what I'm looking for.

Hello, I got this address, maybe that may help, prices are steep, but better than hotels in general, not much view though, look carefully at the addresses. I'll help you if you don't know where they are.

this is more exclusive, could not get the rates this evening, will try tomorrow, very good location although 20 minutes away from center...

magexpect, thank you!

This look much better than everything I have found so far. The Schwertgut look very nice. Could you give me an advice what districts in Zurich are best to live in? Quiet, close to the center, "green",... And I assume that district 1 is the city centre (Bahnhofstrasse)?

Best Regards, v-r

Hello,

Well Zürich does not have, like so many cities around the world, slums or real bad areas. There are the obvious choices, of course, like 1, 8, 6, 2 and especially the Seefeld area in 8. It is more a question of how much one wants to pay...

Zürich is a quiet city as soon as one avoids the main thoroughfares. You may live right in the center of town and have total quietness. If one is looking for a nice view, No. 8 and 6 are the most obvious, if you want to be close to the lake, No. 8 and 2.

Many like the outskirts like the Höngg area, a prolongation of No. 6 along the river. The quality of life is high, but the tram ride into the city is long and boring. You also may consider the outskirts of the city as sometimes one gets into the city faster with the S-Bahn as if one was at the end of No. 3 or 5...

Keep in mind that the public transport system is outstanding.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions.

magexpect, thanks for all your efforts and the information you provided!

Just wanted to let you know what I finally decided on: The Aparthotel Rigiblick , which seems to be conveniently located, quiet and overlooking the city, and easily accessible by public transport. I got a very bearable monthly room rate there, and best news: The whole work project has been replanned, and now it looks like that I will get the chance to spend the 2 months in Zurich myself. Really looking forward to that.

Keep the fingers crossed that it works out. final decision due next week.

Congratulations! :)
Maybe you'll find the time to PM me and I'll treat you to a drink in one of the good cellars of Zürich.

The Best Western Montana Hotel in Zurich is pricing out at around $20-30/night on www.octopustravel.com . There's a thread about this in MileageRun.

The hotel seems to be a tourist-class property not appropriate for a manager-transfer, but perhaps one of our Swiss FTers can comment. :)

For less than $950/month for a triple in Zurich (including breakfast), who am I to complain. :D
