Driving From Prague to/from Berlin?
 

I've visited both Prague and Berlin independently but have never rented an auto and driven between the cities. I'm taking the family to Prague next spring for a couple weeks and am thinking about renting a car and driving to Dresden and Berlin for a few days. Has anyone done this and can offer advice? Should I just shelve that idea and take the train instead? Thanks.

The motorway/autobahn Dresden-Prague is currently under construction, so you'll be on regular 2 lane highways for most of the journey, probably going throught the middle of towns and villages. Could be scenic & interesting, but will probably not be very fast.

Also, for the short portion of motorway out of Prague, you'll most likely need a toll sticker.

I made this drive many years ago and recommend it.

Along the way, you’ll be able to visit the Terezín memorial, stop in Teplice for a meal, explore Dresden, and glimpse the vestiges of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik.

For about half of theCzech side it is motorway , then mostly 2 lane roads, its also a truck route so watch out for them passing , Not sure now but last year petrol was cheaper on the czech side so you might want to fill up there.
The last 5 miles or so to the german border is very curvy and uphill , watch out for slow trucks and crazy people going too fast downhill.

Its a nice drive if you have not seen Czech countryside,
