Dining in Dublin

I have read that the culinary scene in Dublin affords some favorable choices. First hand experiences and recommendations would be helpful to me for my forthcoming visit.

Anything to report for Dublin? Staying here another night and some good insights would be nice.

This might be too late for you but two places I had very enjoyable meals come to mind.
Both were not tremendously expensive:
1) a Russian restaurant with the improbable name of Tsar Ivan, has a very extensive menu which was unusual in my experience, but being from Florida, there are not a lot of Russian places around. Good meal and service
with fairly sizeable portions if I remember correctly.
2) Pearl Brasserie cozy place located downstairs in the basement of row-house with a bit of an inventive menu and delicious food.
Both are quite near to Stephens Green, Pearl being just a few blocks (east??)on Merrion/Baggot.

Will be in Dublin for a couple days.

Any other ideas? "true" Irish or ethnic cuisine preferred.

If one is tired of pub food, the duck dishes at Maple Leaf were sublime, all other dishes here were very poor, but the duck (oh man the duck!) was great (had a few dishes of the duck).

fast food fish and chips place, think McD's, not bad, but I didn't see the reason not to be in a pub having this meal.

Not sure about how culturally sensitive it is to have this post in the "UK/England" section of Dining, but will add my comments below for the sake of taxonomy...

Enjoyed a very good meal on Friday night at Eden in Meeting House Square, near Temple Bar. Reservations almost essential I guess, but good food, good service, relaxed pace (over 2hrs - they weren't rushing us). Good wine list, bill for 2 of €100.

I believe it's what they call modern irish cuisine - think smoked haddock in a creme fraiche sauce topped with cheese, or braised knuckle of lamb with root vegetables.

Decor reminded me of a municipal swimming pool meets 1970's office, but 1) I wasn't there for the room and 2) I'm sure it was all the rage in interior design when the place opened 10 years ago or so.

Verdict - i'd go back!
