Schiphol Privium "basic version"
 
I've just ordered a brochure for the basic version -seeing as I will never park there, and I am an FD Elite so I don’t need the check-in facilities. Anyway, has anyone had any experience with it? Is it worth it, even for the novelty (or coolness) factor?

My membership number is in the double digits, I LOVE it. The "coolness" factor is indeed nice but being able to skip the massive lines at AMS is absolutely number 1.

I have the normal membership...

If you ever checkin with airlines you are not elite on then many of them also let you use their business checkin desks with the card...

Now if only other airlines would get this system...

That is secondary to their retinal scan passport control system. ANY airport in the world can learn a lesson from AMS.

I concur. What is needed is a universal standard, to ensure that systems are compatible. If every country or airport devises its own system, frequent flyers will end up filling their wallets with an exotic collection of cards, and having to pay annual membership fees for all of them.

Thanks for that Johan, sadly it looks like the UK system will be storing the iris scan on THEIR database, unlike Privium where the scan is encrypted and stored on the smartcard, that was one of the first requirements for the system to be introduced... It's a shame the UK can't just pop over to Holland and use their expertise...
