Montecatini, Italy

Have any of you ever been to this Tuscan town? I've read about it and it is supposed to have wonderful spas. I'm wondering if it's worth a day trip, or an overnight, or several days in this town. Any insight you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

We're also spending time in Lucca, Siena, Florence, Pisa, and San Gimignano. Are there any other places in Tuscany that you recommend?

Montecatini is lovely! As you probably know, this town is renowned for the therapeutic waters. There is a wonderful park where you pay a fee, receive a cup, and stroll the grounds drinking from different natural springs. A small orchestra plays music, and the grounds are very nice. Also, there is the famous 'grotto" spa where you descend into a natural cave, and take in the the thermal heat. The famous 'termi di montecatini' mud (Marcella Borghese cosmetics) also has magnificent benefits. You can have different mud or water treatments at the spa. If you have time, try to visit the Montipulciano Vineyards. There tours are wonderful. Have fun!
