Hotel in Prague?
 

I'm looking for some recommendations for hotels in Prague. Will be there for a few days at the end of April for a wedding.

Any favorites or unique experiences? Its my first time visiting so would like something centrally located.

I'd like to second that request but add that when I head, I'm going to be on a budget and would like spend less than 100€ per night if possible. Not looking for anything fancy since I just plan to sleep in the room and not spend much time in it

It is worth checking out hilton's website. Recently they had an offer of 99 euros a night for a room. Generally the Prague Hilton is much more than that, but they do have deals, so it is worth a look. If you can get a room there at a price you're comfortable paying, I highly recommend it. If you find a room there, and are not yet a hilton hhonors member, send me an e-mail, and I can give you some tips on how to maximize your perks when staying there. This is the only hotel I've stayed at in Prague so I can't recommend any others, but this hotel was absolutely fabulous.

Don't stay at the Belvedere. I stayed there in 2001.

We opened the door to our room and found a couple shagging on the bed, woman on top. I was disgusted. I had to look away after 15 minutes!

They gave us another room that had turd on the toilet seat, the third room had pubic hair in the bed, the fourth room had blood on the sheets. At this point they gave me the key to the laundry room and told me to get clean sheets and make the bed myself. We only stayed one night and they tried to charge us 400% of what my booking confirmation stated.

This really did happen. Look at www.inyourpocket.com and find Prague and you'll see I'm quoted in the Belvedere Hotel listing.

I highly reccomend the Crowne Plaza which used to be the Diplomat hotel. The rooms are great and the service is really good too. Best of all the price. I stayed two nights mid week for only $60 per night. The breakfast is worth that alone. Its well located and they also operate their own taxi's.

I'm thinking of going during Holy Week - will things be open or will everything close like here in Spain?

I don't know what the cost is now, but the Prague 4 Seasons was great, last year, before the floods. I highly recommend it.

I got married in Pargue in December 2001. We stayed at the Certovka Hotel which is right at the foot of the Charles Bridge in Mala Strana (a short walk from the tram and the Malostranska metro station). It was wonderful--not sure whether they have reopened since the floods. . .http://www.certovka.cz/en_certovka.htm Very comfortable rooms, not a cookie cutter like the Intercontinental. . .good breakfast too.

It really depends on what you would like to be close to. . .Certovka is on the Castle side-- you may want to be on the Old Town Square or Wenceslaus Square side.

I'll be there for Easter this year and am really looking forward to it.

Certovka is a bit pricey the weekend we are there -- Euro 160 for two people. If you have that kind of cash, it may still be worth it. Try apartments too--they are highly variable, but can be quite a bit cheaper.

I stayed at the Ambassador way back in '99. The room was great, large with high ceilings, clean, jacuzzi in the bathroom with separate shower. The breakfast was good, as was the location--very close to Wenceslaus Square. On the downside, in certain areas it seemed like the hotel was trying really hard to be an upscale western hotel but fell on it's face--like faux marble verses the real thing. Though it did seem like they were going through some renovations so things may have gotten better.

No matter where you stay make sure it's in the old city. Have a great time, Praha is a really amazing city.

Any latest recommendations on hotels on prague near the Wensclas Square area.The Hilton has no deals at the moment and I am confused by the number of Best Westerns.

We stayed at the Radisson last year, just round the corner from Wenceslas Square. It was quite nice. (That's really about all I can say about it... it was very much an international chain hotel like any other international chain hotel, but the rooms were nice and modern and the staff were friendly and helpful!)

The Renaissance is very nice and close to everything.
