Hotel in Florence
 

I'm looking for a reasonable priced Hotel in Florence for 4 persons. We'll stay there in the second week of october. Do you have an suggestions?

October is the Busiest month in all FLR tourist season. Book now if you are not too late. The town fills up with people from Congresses and Conventions. Even rooms as far away as Pisa are full. They are block booked a year in advance.

Italy has strict regulations as to the maximum number of people in a room. That max, in most cases is 3. This rule is policed. In order to find a place that accepts 4, you should use a website that allows guests = 4.


There are a lot of hotels in FLR, a lot are not listed on the big search engines:

But whatever, do it now, and try to stay in central FLR, it is worth a few extra dollars to avoid the commute. I have never taken trains in and out of FRL at rush hour, but my colleagues have told me that waiting for two or three trains to get on is not unusual in Oct.

I've just recently booked a hotel in Florence. It's the Hotel Porta Faenza. They're right beside the train station.

However, just search using Expedia and you'll get a better price.

Two years ago I had some trouble finding a hotel. So I went to Fiesole, a small, nice village on a hill just outside Florence.

.....This romantic apartment, bought by an architect and painstakingly restored by artisans, is located on the ground floor of a 17th century palazzo. Though it's located just 2 minutes from the Piazza St. Croce and is the perfect starting point for artistic/historic excursions or a look at the nightlife, our dwelling is well isolated from the boisterous bustle in the lanes and alleyways of Florence.....

Just back from a Spain/Italy trip,

we stayed at the Tourist House Ghiberti in Florence, it was excellent. They only have 6 rooms (don't know the max per room). Sauna and hot tub are available and high-speed internet in room (our only time in 16 days to check on stuff). A block from the Duomo, the owners were very nice and serve a good breakfast every morning.

give it a shot, the price was reasonable and accomodations were among the best out of our 6 cities.

Spigman, what do you consider a reasonable price? We will be 4 women visiting Venice, Florence and Rome for 2 weeks in May. From what I am reading here, should we expect to have to get 2 hotel rooms per night?

Unless you specifically book a quad room, you won't get spaces for 4 adults.

I am not sure what May is considered (high, medium, low season) but they run 145, 110, 98 euros for a double per the different seasons.

Also, my wife and I did the Venice/Florence/Rome swing and it was awesome, let me know if you have any more questions.

read my post that is up a couple lines. There are a number of quads in FLR, very few in VCE. You cannot get away with 4 people in a regular room for 3. It must be able to take 4 people.

Most search engines will not allow 4. The ones I listed will allow 4.

I have never stayed in a quad.

Thanks for the info. 3 of the 4 of us have only been to Europe once before and that was on a tour. Had no idea that rooms that sleep 4 are so unusual.

Spigman, I have tons of questions. Did you drive or use the train? We are flying into VCE and back from FCO. Plan to spend 2 nights each in Venice & Florence and 1 night in each in places undecided as of yet. We will then have a timeshare for a week just outside Rome. Any suggestions on where to spend the other 2 nights? Tuscany area, Adriatic Coast? Not interested in Milan.

Anything you would advise against or were disappointed in? We plan to do all the touristy things. Did you go to Pompeii? Did you do self tours in Rome or group? Any and all advice would be appreciated since we are novices. Thanks.

we drove from venice to florence and then to rome. 2 days in venice and florence should be good. We went to Naples for a day while staying in Rome.
