Travelling to Barcelona for the weekend in May and looking for any funky hotel, restaurant suggestions (not Las Ramblas, perrrr-lease!) Hotel Arts looks great but don't really want to spend $500/night!

I stay at the I-C Princess Sophia which is on the outskirts of the city if that is what you want. It's a short walk from the Metro. As for restaurants, the Olympic Village area is always good.

I did the Fira Palace last year, and loved it! A lot classier than what I usually do, but a great way to wrap up a trip. They supposedly have the largest rooms in town, and I wouldn't doubt it. I think it was built for the Olympics. It is by the National Palace and the Plaza Espana, about a block & a half off the subway.

I got a $99 rate off Expedia last year for an August visit--they seem to usually run at least $150.
